| Cool, I guess. I'm barely using any space on my 80GB model, but that's mainly because I have only 2 games for it, lol.
Now MS, on the other hand, should price their HD lower. I'm constrained with 20GB, can't really download much, and refuse to spend $140 for a 120Gb replacement. Flag this | Edit this post |

| While the reflections are accurate, the water looks more like a gelantinous mirror than water. Most rasterized games have more realistic looking water with faster framerates to boot.
I think Larrabee will have a bigger splash with professional rendering than gaming. Profit margins are substantially higher as well. Flag this | Edit this post |

| FS Geek, you sound like a tool when you say Zalman is only good for low-end gaming. I run a retail HSF, I "game" just fine.
UPDATE:
Well, does Crysis set to high quality really qualify as low end gaming? How about Left 4 Dead on its highest settings? Or Supreme Commander set to high? Exactly what do you consider high-end gaming? Or even medium? What planet do you live on where you need an aftermarket CPU heatsink to get above low-end gaming? Flag this | Edit this post |

| » Typo I noticed on the first page of the article, it was claimed that Nehalem was the first Intel processor with a L3 cache.
The 3.2 Ghz Pentium 4 Extreme Edition had a 2MB L3 cache to compete with AMD's newly released Athlon 64 in 2003.
Kids these days... ;) Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I realized it after they released Burning Crusade for World of Warcraft. Charging paying subcribers for content that should've been covered by their subcriptions in the first place. Even worse was the fact that all the textures and gamedata was installed in all vanilla WoW builds via the weekly and monthly updates, basicly requiring all people to have their hard drive filled with extra bloat they can't access without buying the add-on, which is little more than a redeem code. | | You need serious help. I've got better things to do than to spend countless hours of frustration to master a dumb videogame. Life is full of countless hours of frustration as it is... unless of course, you don't have a life to begin with. Flag this | Edit this post |

| "Forza, I’m very confident we have a better game than them to be honest. Talking to the press, looking at the nominations, that’s clear. So, I’m glad that they’re confident but I’m as confident as they are.”
That's kinda funny, since IGN nominated Forza 3 as best racing game of E3. Heck, if GT5 was playable, THAT game would've probably been named the best racer, just to slide Need for Speed down another notch. Flag this | Edit this post |

| » Curious... Wouldn't this also be a supplier problem? The drives are manufactured by companies like Samsung, Lite-on, etc. Microsoft should take the blame for using these suppliers, reimburse their customers, and then grill their suppliers to the fire.
Their disc relacement program is a joke. $20 a disc, and only applies to MS games. Last time I checked, there are plenty of 3rd party games for the 360.
Whether its a design flaw or production problem, MS needs to step it up. Flag this | Edit this post |

| I think the key obstacle to digital distribution is the retailers themselves. The current pricing model is to break even or lose money on the consoles and make the profits on games and accessories. If MS abandoned all forms of physicla media, the retailers would be shut out of most of the profits, and they would NOT sell the console, period. Why waste shelf space on an item that won't profit the store? Exactly.
Blu-ray is probably the best option. It'll play DVD's which is needed to play 360 games and older movies. It'll also have tons of space for future games, which will be needed.
The costs of Blu-ray will continue to fall and the speeds will increase like CD's and DVD's before it. Microsoft will probably have no problem paying Sony and its Blu-ray partners the licensing fees. All DVD players that play movies have a fee that goes to the DVD consortium. Blu-ray is just a different consortium of patent holders. Remember Sony is a big company with many divisions. Microsoft is competing with Sony Computer Entertainment, not the electronics division.
Digital distribution will grow, but not replace physical distribution. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I hope it doesn't become like OS X. I tried OS X at the store yesterday. I thought it was terrible. No taskbar, so I had trouble switcing aps. No icon in the corner to close an ap or to resize it to full screen. I was blown away by its awful UI. I will not buy OS X in its current shape. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I like this game. I went with the 360 version since most of my friends don't have modern computers. I also figured since most Live players have mics, voice communication would be easier. Shame I have to play with a controller, but from what I've heard about the server problems in the PC version, I'm not regretting the decsion to go console this time. Hope they get it fixed, this game is cool and I'd hate to have people turned off from the experience with dropped games. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | So they went from a merely OK name to a crappy name that most laymen will have no clue what it stands for. Good job Bungie. I thought the reason they broke off from MS was to get away from the Halo franchise, and here we are. Although I've liked Halo series, after 3 games I'm looking at this new one with a healthy dose of skepticism. Flag this | Edit this post |

| The xfire voice chat never worked right in that game, so you can't really expect everyone to be all chatty. As far as typing in-game, I've gotten REALLY lazy after using xbox live. I don't even bother to type in-game anymore, lol.
Still, i need to beat Hellgate before it closes down. I lost interest around level 20 or so, and I won't restart at level 1 offline... too much work. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | Nvidia was pretty bad when it came to image quality in the Geforce FX days. Anyone who has seen "brilinear" filtering will know what I'm talking about. I had a 5700, and the trilinear filtering was atrocious. I'm not exactly an ATI fanboy, since all my cards have been Nvidia minus the 9800 pro. (Great card in its heyday, BTW). | | I'll have to take some of my criticisms back. The Marketplace is much improved. I like the fact I can search games by letter. Plus when I select a game... it shows the box art, screenshots, downloadable content and a description. Flag this | Edit this post |
