i help run a 100 person lan here in Australia. we have run 15 events so far and each event has been a fantastic social group for ppl to meet new people and such. Our Event name is MorB (Move or Bleed) and we have grown a large lanning community in our city of about 30'000. MorB runs about every 6 months (we tried every 4 months but numbers we were not getting as many ppl, mostly i believe is that we have some smaller lan groups within the town and they run more frequently)
We play just about anygame, COD4 and team fortress 2 were a big hit at our last lan, as well as the great classics of unreal tournament and quake 3. Starcraft still gets brought out too :D
MorB has grown from a 60 player event i believe, i was not fortunate enough to go to the earlier events, (MorB 3 was my first) to 120 player events. We now have a large list of sponsors and have expanded out to include console gaming as well. MorB runs from midday Saturday to midday sunday. An all night event.
I have been to alot of lans in my time, i've been a heavy gamer and have some trophies of own, won from computer gaming. I've been to every MorB since MorB 3, which was some 7 years back now and have enjoyed every event and have always looked forward to the next.
The bigger lans are definatly something to go to :D Link: http://www.morblans.com Flag this | Edit this post |
