» Possible Fix For 19" DCL LCD
So anyway... I am also a technician and have worked on a laptop LCD with a similar problem. Without even cracking open this monitor, I'll just bet, as a guess, it's the LCD's rectifier PCB. There's not much inside of these LCD's that really go wrong. Usually, they should be dependable, forgiving the flourescent's finally giving out, or the power inverter/rectifier PCB finally gives out. And, as another closing note for users out there... lifting your LCD laptop cover from the corners, is highly, not recommended, and if you are typically doing this, I'm warning you this... the construction of these laptop LCD's is fragile and lifting from corners puts extra stress on the screws that hold the top together, then, when those become loose, the ribbon/data cable for the LCD's connector to the back of the LCD itself, becomes unseated or wears out from being wiggled repeatedly, thereby ending the life of your laptop LCD. So, that concept of thinking leaves me wondering just, how did my DCL LCD give out so easily!? Then, I thought, you know... since I leave it on for many hours... I'll just bet the constant heat and amperage on the PCB that controls the signal from the SVGA card and power, probably has failed from heat. That's why I'm stating it could be the power inverter PCB, that I'm also referring to as the rectifier. Sorry, maybe that's a mistake on my part, but seems like I heard or read it being called that...somewhere.

» DCL LCD 19" Regret
I read the reply where this user said the complaining user didn't actually give a review, however, I somewhat would disagree. See, he did mention under the "Pros" heading that, "when it worked, it worked good". I would gather from that comment, the LCD was responsive, image quality was sharp, and overall performance was pleasurable.
I will add a little specific info to state, I was using mine with a TV card and the refresh rate never seemed an issue because I never noticed any "chipping" or "stutter" in the imagery/display of the monitor. The speakers were of fair performance, and supplemented my current speaker/sound system attached to my desktop unit very nicely as "in-front-of-me-midrange" speakers. I've probably owned and used my 19" DCL LCD monitor for about 1 1/2yr (1.5yrs), and it just stopped giving an image. The flourescent lights come on, and I get some purple colored light in the power light, whereas it's supposed to be red when no signal and blue when on working properly. At first, I tried gliching it by unplugging the power plug, then plugging it back in and would eventually get it to work, then even that stopped working, but the flourescents still are working, just no image/picture! So, now I read this thread/blog, and learn I quite probably wont have any luck getting support from the manufacturer. So others can have a closing chuckle...I didn't purchase an extended warranty, and certainly have little recourse to resolve this $220 LCD just purchased a year and a half ago.
