| » Assuming it came out Novalogic's Angel Falls. Beta is rumored to come out this fall. But if BF3 comes out cleaned up with maybe server side hit detection and servers without auto heal Id play that a bit as well. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | Beta has been terrible. 1-2 sec lags on a ~45ms server with just ~20-25 players. Flashlights makes enemies invulnerable and they blind you. As nice as the gun fire sounds are you never hear an enemy run up to you. I hope they come out with a polished demo before I plunk down $ for this. As is Ill wait for the 5$ firesale. | » What is the budget for this game? I heard some games can cost as much as an A list movie in the 40-50 million range. Are they really putting that much cash into an mmo?? Hell of a gamble... I love SW too but its bound to still be an MMO. The only way I think it can work is to set up new servers and restart storylines when you activate an account. Maybe one new server on a monthly basis or as needed. So maybe you can run for a bit on an old server to ramp up your character just until that months new activation. Anything less and it'll be a same old run of the mill MMO experience IMO. Flag this | Edit this post |

| » Hmm I wonder If they will overhaul the sounds and graphics of the LOTRO now that they own it. Might even make me check it out. I really regret not having played Matrix Online. The one Matrix game I didnt play that I heard was actually decent in new storytelling. Flag this | Edit this post |

| » Man Couldnt they make some basic version of bulldozer run on am3 socket? Maybe a 4 core 32 nm bulldozer and keep the 8 core for the new socket...
God I hate socket changes. I just ordered a phenom ii 965m with am3 mobo... I wouldve liked a good upgrade option in couple years. Flag this | Edit this post |

| » Still wondering If there will be a real single player story here or just a hodge podge of campaings like the first one. I still felt I got my moneys worth because of multiplayer and the huge base of fan support that created gobs of mods and campaings. That last map pack I downloaded had 89 campaigns! But if your gonna make that much money off a game Valve should at least include a well defined story encompanssing all the official campaings for single and coop game modes imo... | » Big fan of these games Ive played just about every NL DF game. The feel and immersion for this kind of military shooter has been pretty much unequaled imo. I saw the splash a few weeks ago and its been running ever since. They also had a 'Delta Force Cuba' splash for a couple days... They might want to go back to their roots and make the single player game set in many locals. Kind of like a globetrotter military adventure. Course this time the fans all hope for good multiplayer as well a singleplayer campaign.
Cmon Nova we need this new game this year! I need my fix... Flag this | Edit this post |

| | Yes Im sure its a cabal system that wants to avoid costs but I would have thought competing formats would reduce royalty rates on the studios... then again if you are format neutral that might be a difficult thing to do. I suppose it could be negociated on a film by film basis... or they saw the inevitable merging of the formats if both stayed on... I wish something like that would happen now or a trade in program for hd to bd media... Flag this | Edit this post |

| » Im a bit surprised at his statement that the consumer wanted a single format I always thought it was a studio thing. With multiple media formats for games I dont see why movies cant have 2-3 formats or about a third to half as many formats as videogames. IMO hd dvd wouldve flourished along with blu ray had all the studios been format neutral. Flag this | Edit this post |

| DRM I think will keep the adoption slow. In my case I can play 1080i on my component in only hdtv fine with hddvd. Not so with bluray. So its not just a 2-300$ bluray or combo player Ill need, Ill need a new tv and sound system (current tv has sound built in, newer lcd\plasma ones almost never do)...
Its not so much I wanted hddvd to win I wanted the format war to destroy or largely neuter drm before a winner was called. Flag this | Edit this post |

| » Got mine at wal mart for 98$ And man does living 5 min from the border sweet for this canuck. I got it at cdn $ at par which is decent. Slapped the 2.5 firmware in first thing and just got done watching 3 movies which were flawless. Player is quiet and quicker bootup than my 5 year old dvd player. Im even more impressed by the sound and that component outputs 1080i. I hope every hd dvd respects the fact my old hd set is component in only but if things change drm wise Ill upgrade the tv but hopefully not for a couple years yet. Keep an eye out for disc sales as I put in 200$ in orders sameday I bought the player. IMO Toshiba is gonna win... At the very least prices will be reasonable from now on. If bluray wins Ill grab a, probably by then 200$, dual format player by end of next year as by then Ill have a good part of my collection in hd dvd... Very happy and impressed with hd dvd so far.
