| Sync, how do you know all those laws are ineffective? the problem with reality is that its simple to record or graph or add a % to every incident that occurs. unfortunately its speculative at best to guess at what those laws have indeed prevented.
i believe the same way that you dont, that altho laws may not work perfectly, they still work. and that alittle is better than nothing
we're human man. we get mad sometimes at the dumbest things. imagine if every single person could freely possess the means to kill or maim any1 with a simple motion of a finger. one things forsure, there wouldnt be anymore comparatively innocent fist fights. oh and then imagine the snowball effect of unhampered avengement.
wrath is a deadly sin for a reason. even tho i'm not religious, nor american. Flag this | Edit this post |

| so sync youre saying nothing should be done about banning these lasers just cuz doing something wont be 100% effective?
theres always that one damn guy whoz hellbent on obtaining one, so screw it and lets just give up and forget those thousands of ppl who just might be spared injuring from a ban.
on the other hand, doing nothing is 100% ineffective.
so i guess you win the % there. who cares about other ppl.
at the end of the day, u can have 1 asshole ruin it for 1 unlucky person. -law.
or u can have thousands of assholes ruin it for thousands of unlucky ppl. -no law Flag this | Edit this post |

| this doesnt have the instant, mortal threat of a gun, but i'd say this is more of a threat to the general public than any gun.
first this is an extremely concealable weapon; theres no loud noise that will attract ppl, no recoil, no smoke, no tell tail sign of a poise (u look at a crowd and if one guy is aiming a gun, its obvious.) blind the driver beside u on the highway, make him crash into a minivan with a family and theres no bullet hole, no gun powder, no empty shell casings left on the road, no1 seeing u point or stick a gun out the window. just u casually driving by and glancing out the window for a moment...
second this weapons ammo are batteries, buy em anywhere with no questions asked.
third once activated, its continuously *firing* silently, making it very easy to pinpoint a target. can hold the damn thing under yer armpit, aim and slightly glace to the side, zero in and blind some1 forever or set something on fire and never be noticed.
forth insane range with no arch, no time delay, dont even have to worry about wind. u push the button and its instantly there whether its 5 feet away or 5 miles.
fifth, any1 can buy one for 200 bucks.
and lastly, some1 using this doesnt necessarily have to be deliberately threatening, like some1 pointing a gun knows wtf hes getting into. some innocent idiot screwing around can take my vision away forever. or maybe even my life, and not even know.
u tell me many, many of these in the public's hands isn't as dangerous as a few guns on the street. if i was still at home and my dad were to catch me with one of these, oh cool toy son, finish your homework now. but now, if he caught me with a gun? ya right. know what i mean?
sure this particular laser can be seen as a blue beam at night, but on a sunny day, gl.
the thought of how easily i can be affected by this weapon scares me way more than the chance of any gun out there killing or wounding me.
oh and one last thing. these things dont reload. wave it like a wand at a crowd, and blind any eyes u sweep across faster than those eyes can blink. and thats blinded forever at the flick of your goddamn wrist.
oh oh, i'm sorry one more thing. i'm not 100% sure about this, but what about skin cancer? imagine being stalked by some1 who f**king hates you enuff just to follow you every day, for like maybe a week, to your favorite coffee shop for your morning coffee. he zigzags a beam on the back of your bare neck from whatever distance needed just so u dont feel any heat, but enuff to cause cancerous cells to form in that area of skin. isnt the light from these 100, or was it 1000 times stronger than the light from the sun? youre f**king 25years old, and healthy as sh*t. a year later, dead, from nothing more than innocent skin cancer. cheated out of 50-60 more years of life. and now your pissed off stalker is urinating on your gravesite a completely free man. its a bit of a stretch, but i could seriously, honestly see methodical stuff like this happening just cuz its so utterly untraceable.
utterly untraceable, cheap, simple, and seemingly innocent...ya...that about equals a nightmare for society. Flag this | Edit this post |

| k u got me with the 5-man, but whatever. i believe theres still human skill factors in wow.
theres skill in being a good mmo/wow player. regardless of gear. its not blantently clear like the oldschool FPS. (new FPS have classes and even mmo-type lvl/weapon achievments) but the skill is there in mmos. u can see it if u look deeper.
keep in mind; good players will get good gear, not good gear will get good players. that might be a great misconception thats fooling every1.
example; to get into a hardcore guild, u *Have* to be good at your class. guild leaders of hardcore guilds takes things very seriously, and thus don't want useless, mediocre ppl taking up valuable space. =good players getting good gear.
or, good pvpers in mmos just know when and where to go, and how to fight to get kills against other players, over and over. =more kills = more points= better gear.
so, now all these good players have awesome gear. but then the average person sees the gear and says they're only good because of it. well, to get the gear in the first place, u have to be good at the game itself. =skill
i know there are the losers who do nothing but play 24/7 and aren't any good at the game while equiped with good gear. but, they stick out like a sore thumb when grouped up in PuGs. so again, u can see the skill and how much actually shines through if u actually truely look. | " But here's the thing WoW in no way promotes anyone being the best at ANYTHING."
lol, serious?
healers always try to out-heal each other, dps always try to out dps each other, tanks always try to out-tank each other. doesn't matter if its a 40man PvE raid in WoW or a 6man PvP scenario in WaR..even beyond that crafters try to out-craft each other in mmos. the human competitive element is as strong in any mmo including wow as it is in any FPS, if not stronger. and i've been playing FPS since wolfenstein3D, and played wow for 3 years.
so, to u, wow doesn't promote ppl to be the best in anything except in getting the best gear...laff, nice try at thinking. Flag this | Edit this post |
