| Nintendo needs to do something rather drastic if they want to get back on pace to blow the ps2 sales record away with the wii.
The best way to pick up revenue will not be the software that's coming out, it's going to be price cuts on consoles. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I seriously doubt it'll take over from the 360 for more than a month or two, let alone pass the wii. We already know that MS has already planned a sku change with the elite going to $300 and the pro being phased out. But maybe if Sony goes with the slim, price cut AND GOW3 and GT5 in quick succession, they'll gather some momentum. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | The unfortunate truth is that we already pay for plenty of health care for the uninsured. My personal hope is that when universal health care is instituted, that my HMO might actually have to provide some helpful services rather than just being a pain in my ass. | Well, it wasn't really an announcement, he was pressed on the issue during an interview.
As far as the price cut, expect a ps3 slim at $300 in late October.

| I actually think that netbooks will be a short lived thing. Sooner or later, I believe that cellphones will basically serve as a mobile computer and that we'll have a fold out bluetooth screen and kbd combo if a person wants more usability. I know they already exist in a limited capacity, but cell phones are getting more powerful and once we get a cheap and usable folding/rollaway screen, it's over.
Of course, netbooks are going to start being subsidized by cell providers, so they're going to be dirt cheap for a while. Flag this | Edit this post |

| First off, as a business owner, you NEVER blame the consumer for not buying your product. The problem is the product. Period.
DX is great, it's the defacto api, but that's a serious problem because it's developed by MS. If MS really wanted to kill pc gaming, they could simply stop supporting it and all of us would have to wait for someone else to come up with a new api. That's why I alluded to Apple and Google. I believe an open source api would be best for the industry and consumers alike. Flag this | Edit this post |

| PC gaming dead? No.
In decline? Yes.
And I tend to agree with the article that Microsoft has really hurt pc gaming with their focus on the xbox. They've jettisoned some good devs while forcing others to focus on their console. They've hurt high end development by placing dx10 on a failed o/s. They lost with their GFW push. I think it's fair to say that if MS didn't have the 360, they would've pushed pc gaming rather than let it languish. While I hope that windows 7 takes off and relieves some issues, I also hope that google's new o/s and possibly apple (if they ever pull their heads out and make a gaming api) will give pc gaming development some alternatives.
Don't misunderstand my post. I'm not saying that Microsoft has willfully tried to hurt pc gaming, but I firmly believe that if they didn't have a console the landscape of gaming would be vastly different. Flag this | Edit this post |
