| In 1997 there was a game called Total Annihilation, it was just about everything this game is not. And, no wasted game code.
For those that do not remember, you could build 200 units and with a popular hack, 500 units.
Only 4 people could play... via modem!!... That meant up to 2000 units online. And, the game could be played solo if wanted.
Ah, the good old days, what happened to them? Flag this | Edit this post |

| » Welcome Joel,
I am very glad you made it here and I am looking forward to your work at Firingsquad. You have been open and honest at the other sites, such as ExtremeTech.
I know you will be an asset.
Probably one of the most exciting things for me recently was when Intel unlocked i5 and i7 CPUs. Thank God, people on the bottom can actually afford an unlocked CPU.
This is a very early request, however, if you hear anything about Intel releasing an unlocked four core 32nm I would be very interested, especially if it does not contain local video.
Unfortunately the only choices customers currently have is a 2 core CPU with a GPU strapped on and a 6 core that sells for $1,000.
I am disappointed that Intel used the 45nm manufacturing process for the unlocked four core, and it lacks funcionality that the lowly 2 core has. Hopefully we will not have to wait for unlocked 22nm four core CPUs.
You have probably been here just long enough to learn where the nearest bath room is and I am already asking favors.
Seriously, it is good to see you.

| It is impossible to get PTSD from a game.
Obviously you and everyone else that has claimed PTSD from a game has never been a combat veteran [read actual war, not some game].
Momentary game scares, game stress, vomiting, and insomnia are not PTSD nor are those reactions to a game PTSD.
I am a war veteran and was in combat situations at least 100 times and I have been diagnosed with PTSD. Prior to the diagnosis I had never heard of PTSD, however, while in the hospital and through further therapy I learned what PTSD is and what causes it.
I do not wish to discuss this further or answer questions concerning combat because I do not want to relive it, and it is personal, so, do not ask me any questions related to my war experiences. Real combat veterans will understand this statement and the reasons why.
I have played all kinds of games, and some were scary at moments. DX11 does not equate scary, good game code does.
I will add that it is probably not a good idea for a combat veteran to play games filled with blood and guts. Flag this | Edit this post |
