| | As much as I've always prefered the PS3 console over the Xbox 360 (neither of which I even own at this time), the headline to this news seems somewhat baseless. The article only mentions two games, albeit each being of significant popularity. I strongly believe the data should be comprised of at least a dozen cross-platform titles over a longer period of time before a headline like this is to be considered to have enough validity to it. Time will tell I guess... Flag this | Edit this post |

| | XP really is hard to beat. I started using that OS before it even hit retail and the experience even at that point in time had me telling people that it was by far, the best OS MS ever put out. Vista was most definitely a completely different kind of animal. I've held off on jumping into that boat only until late last year. I'm now using Vista Ultimate 64-Bit and there are still some minor issues that I've ran into that were never an issue with XP. A 32-Bit Windows OS is useless to me now as I'm running 4 Gigs of RAM on my most recent build therefore XP was pretty much out of the question. SP1 has done quite a bit for Vista and if it wasn't for this service pack, I'd still be running XP Pro even with it's 32-bit limitations. At this point in time, I find the release news of Windows 7 to put me in kind of a pickle of a situation. I'm quite anxious to sh!tcan Vista altogether and start over again with a much more tuned, refined, and hardware resource trimmed "Vista-like" OS that is Windows 7... yet, I'd prefer MS not to push it out the door fearing that the end result will be of compromised quality/testing. | | As it stands now, Vista is a really shitty OS. Broken drivers (that is, if there are any for any piece of hardware that may be more than 2 years old), slow in comparison to XP, and no real compelling reason to upgrade... screw Vista... I'm staying with what's worked great for me since 2001. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | Good, cuz the last thing the PC gaming industry needs is another unpolished shitty game. We're dying for something completely new and refreshing... at the same time, however, I doubt any UT game is gonna bring anything actually innovative... just some pretty graphics maybe and more lame gameplay. | | I'd have to agree that the D3 engine is way overpraised here in this article. It never struck me as being something I'd consider to be "next-gen" technology. Graphics are cartoony, no soft shadows, overall, just dated looking visuals. And don't ge me started on that bullcrap 60fps cap Carmack did... what a step backwards that call was. I still believe Carmack is an amazing programmer, but he really let me down with the D3 engine. Come on John, let's start from scratch, I know you can do leagues better than this engine. Don't force us to use that dreaded "com_fixedtic" command anymore!!! Flag this | Edit this post |

| | For me it's not a big deal to just simply download any drivers required from a company's site such as Dell and have them burned to a disc. Next step, I wouldn't hesitate to wipe the drive and start clean with a freshly illegal install of XP Pro. Of course, I'd never opt for a name brand desktop computer and simply build my own, but when it comes to laptops, there really isn't anyway around it... sad to say that this is still the case these days but there's no way in hell I'd keep an OEM's copy of lousy 'ol XP Home prebloated with tons of other useless apps I'd never need nor use. Only inexperienced computer illiterate users wouldn't know what a difference in performance there is when you compare a bloated computer to a customized lean installation. I feel sorry for those poor saps. Flag this | Edit this post |
