I first started reading FiringSquad back in college when my roommate told me about it during my freshman year. That was either early in '99, or late '98. Back then it was called Thresh's FiringSquad. I remember reading an article about the TNT2 and how it was much better than the Voodoo 3 (I think) which was a whole generation better than the best 3D graphics card I had ever used at the time. I have since bought at least 2 games based solely on what I read here (Galactic Civilizations and Europa Universalis) that I never would have even heard of if not for this site. Most of the Hardware I own is based off of reviews from this site, although it hasn't always turned out well for me. (My Gigabyte MB and my PSU that I purchased after rave reviews died on me within 6 months of purchase). Either way, I like the site and I still read it most days. I have recently started reading Anandtech as well though, because they update more often, and give out more technical details that appeal to me.
