| | (Post a comment) » E3 2006 Konami Pre-E3 Press Conference HighlightsI managed to get myself inside the Konami pre-E3 press conference which wrapped up earlier today at the LA Public Library downtown. The publisher announced quite a few new games, and here are the highlights:
Metal Gear Solid 4: Yes, there was an expanded trailer for Konami's latest game in the action game series at the press conference today. It show some more cinematic but in-game engine goodness from two legged mini-mechs that can get around places that you don't normally think of mechs being able to move around. (they also make a cow sound for some reason that made the audience laugh out loud). Solid Snake and many of the Metal Gear characters are back, fighting Liquid Snake who seems to be organising some kind of huge paramilitary army. And love him or hate him Raiden is back in this game and in the trailer he single handedly took out three of the mini mechs with just his sword.
Metal Gear Solid: Tactical Ops: This is the action oriented PSP game that was revealed a little while back. The action takes place in 1970 (after MGS III) and it looks like you will be controlling not just Solid Snake but a whole team of four under his command. Konami is promising more info about the PSP game's multiplayer modes in the months ahead. The game is due this winter.
Coded Arms Assault: This game was briefly shown in a trailer reel at Sony's press event Monday night but today we got more info on this new game which will debut on the PS3 console. The first person shooter is actually an extension of a series that began on the PSP and uses the Unreal engine to depict a VR like world. The game looks great in the trailer and Konami is promising a number of multiplayer options, inclding co-op, and advanced physics. It's due out in 2007. A sequel to the PSP Coded Arms game is due out in the near future as well.
Hellboy Based on the Dark Horse comic book from writer-artist Mike Mignola, this Xbox 360-PS3 title is described as an action-brawler game where you can use Hellboy's concrete hand (among other things) to tackle the monsters he has to face. The game is due out in 2007 and is being developed by Australian-based Krome Studios. | Previous news article | Back to main news | Next news article |

MGS4, going to alternately play the game with Zelda twilight, an
hour each, as the constant drab and greyness of Metal gear might
turn me into a depressed military wannabe goth.

press conference:
"These are basically the best real-time graphics I've ever
seen. Rivals most CG."
