| | (Post a comment) » Jakub's Rant: "Real-World" Benchmarking[H]ardOCP has claimed our Core 2 benchmarks lie to you, that only their real-world GPU bottleneck tests can show real-world CPU performance. We address the issue of "real-world" vs "canned", and go over some of the myths and errors propagated by our friendly rivals, while also going over the pros and cons of both methods. | Previous news article | Back to main news | Next news article |

| I think the claim about this article being more future proof from gaming perspective doesn't really hold water. The 800x600 has been the maximum resolution where CPU still matters for quite a while now. The new GPUs are going to be faster of course but the new games are going to be more demanding as well.
Hmmm.. But maybe I'm too rash.. Were there any differences between Athlon and Core 2 at 1280x1024? At 1024x768?
I would like to have even more graphs that [H] hates so much :)» Login to reply to this |

| The way [H]ardOCP is acting is rather childish, petty, simple-minded and *EXTREMELY* unprofessional. I had thought they were more professional than to even allow such rank and derogatory (let alone biased) articles to grace their web page.
I cannot believe that they ([H]ardOCP) have resorted to such biased and petty remarks. If I wanted that, I'd watch Fox News. Oh, how far they have lowered their standards.
At least FiringSquad (Jakub, and Brandon) responded with grace and dignity. I guess it shows the true mettle of a Journalist when something like this happens, and one party is composed and the other like a screaming child....

| This is not the first time Hardocp whines at other websites. They bitched at Tom's Hardware a while back...
I go to Hardocp for news and other things everyday, but when it comes to their articles, I never read them. I found them to be too unprofessional and their testing tend to be flawed...» Login to reply to this |

| » looks like someone hasent read all the facts your all blasting kyle for his CPU evaluation and complaning that he isent looking at anything but a very narrow set of hardwear, while it is true he is using 3 cpus and 1 vid card, but he is trying to show in as repeatable mannor as possible with the Highest playable framerates what the new CPUs will do for you with a single video card, a common one that is not to expensive for the average person, I dont have an SLI setup, and I'm sure most of you here dont, why would I want to know what an SLI setup with 2 600 doller videocards will show running at 800x600, I think then the GPU will then show that it would then be usless to have the SLI setup in the first place, yeah its kinda nice to see what the CPU CAN do but what would I be using it for? gameing? video encoding? oh... wait... there is another... I think its called an artical that he had a day before witch talks about what your complaning he does not show, stuff OTHER then gaming. http://enthusiast.hardocp.com/article.html?art=MTExMCwsLGhlbnRodXNpYXN0
you guys should READ his artical before complaning.
edited for spelling (I still cant spell worth beans) and to make a little better sense» Login to reply to this Swaid (181) Jul 24, 2006 - 08:12 pm
| | But the point of a CPU review (evaluation) is to evaluate the CPU, be it actual gaming senarios or not and he failed in his Gaming/CPU "review". It would be much better if he actually showed different resolutions for the games but then did a recap to explain why it's not currently sound to upgrade right away (opinion of course). He presents little facts to back up his opinions since he shows very little to begin with. » Login to reply to this |
