» PS3 Owners To Spend More For 1080p Movies

The already expensive $599 Playstation 3 will be even more expensive if you want to experience true HDTV resolutions in your games and movies. The official Playstation 3 web site in its FAQ section confirms that displaying movies in 1080p resolution will require a TV with an HDMI output and cable. Unfortuately you will have to buy that cable separately since the PS3 will not come with one.

I think I hear a bird.. Cheap! Cheap! Cheap! And "most gamers don't have HDTV's"? Are you smoking sherms again there Cletus? (LOL). I won't buy a PS3 unless it comes with 10 free blow jobs.. That way the price point is met sufficiently.

Why on earth would you spend good money to help MS finish beta testing their new OS?
XP still works, and unless and until Vista gives the end-user something they just have to have, I don't see myself upgrading my hardware (HDCP compliant vid cards and monitors anyone?)or my software.
The whole DX10 being Vista exclusive ticks me off, but even so, no upcoming DX10 titles scream "UPGRADE" at me yet.

i wanted a PS3 so much when E3 2005 ended, too bad it turned out to be a big bunch of lies!
the kill zone demo, yah right!
how can people be lied right in their face, get an over priced system just because it uses a dead to be format and still be a fan boy? fan boy of what?

This the the real reason I hate the PS3. They lied about the PS2 and they are lying about the PS3. Every time I hear Sony say how great the system is it pisses me off that people belive them. I thought gamers where supposed to be smarter than to except the shit that they are being feed by Sony but instead they are grabbing spoons and eager for more.

Facts about the system and why it will bomb are pretty clear. First off it costs $10,000,000 to make a game for the next generation consoles. If you are a publisher you want to spend as little as possible so no extra content between consoles. The PS3 and the Xbox 360 are in regards to content the same system. Trust me that is the way that publishers work.

Secound fact is Blu-Ray has had a very bad start. While it looks better on paper if you ask a videophile which looks like it is going to be the standard they will say HD-DVD since it is out and runs perfect unlike Blu-Ray.

Third fact is most gamers don't have HDTV sets. You really can't argue with that though it could change durring the console war. For anyone buying a new TV HDTV is the way to go and TVs have a life of around 5 years.

That's great, except that your "facts" are anything but.
They are your opinions.
Sony lied about the PS2 and PS3?
Back that up by quoting a deliberate falsehood please, otherwise you're just stating an opinion, and everyone knows what one of those is worth.
Bluray has had a bad start?
Again, back that up with something quantifiable.
Less sell-thru?
Fewer titles?
Did you factor in time from launch?
Or is that too much fact checking for you?

He doesn't have to quote his argumenst when they are all well known facts. Most people don't want to spend 1 hour on a simple post by filling it with well documented quotes and charts. They have other things to do.

It's common knowledge that sony is full of empty promises, expect to be tricked. Keep your eyes and mind open, they will be pulling something out of a hat, but it won't be a rabbit.

i must agree.
PS3 fans are like that blond downtown girl that get smacked around by her boyfriend, he breaks her arm and then says sorry and everything is fine again.
its a right face that only 8% of the population own a HDTV but you have to remember that most of that 8% are technology fanatics and high salary families, that means that most of them are in the demographics as a potential PS3 buyers.
i guess thats what sony thought. right now they have 20+ million potential buyers in the US and as time passes and HDTV get more widespread and the PS3's price start going down then their audience will increase in numbers.
thats why i can still see sony win the console war although they really annoyed me with the PS3...
