| | (Post a comment) » Sony Denies Limiting PS3 Launch Shipments To Top 5 RetailersBiz.GameDaily is reporting that Sony is denying that it is limiting the launch shipments of its Playstation 3 console to the top 5 game retailers. The initial story mentioned a statement on the web site of small game retailer Rhino Video Games which said, "...due to industry-wide extreme hardware allocations imposed by Sony, Rhino will not be receiving any PS3 systems on launch day, November 17th." An internal memo stated that Sony had designated only the top 5 retailers to receive the console on the launch date (which we speculate to be EBGames/Gamestop, Wal-Mart, BestBuy, Circuit City and Target). However, Sony responded to the article saying, "There is absolutely no truth to the report that Sony is limiting launch allocations to a select number of retailers.
