 Tiger Woods Out...Until August!

| | (Post a comment) » Microsoft's Zune A Sales Dud?This AFP story via Yahoo reports that the early sales of Microsoft's newly launched Zune portable media device could turn out to be less than spectacular. Here is a snip:
Two boxed Zune players sat ignored on the top shelf of a Plexiglas showcase packed with iPod accessories in a Virgin Megastore near Union Square in San Francisco's popular shopping district."I didn't even know they were there until a customer pointed them out," said sales clerk Jake Brooks. "I'm sure we have more in a closet in the back somewhere." By mid-afternoon the store had sold one Zune player and one other person had inquired about them.

| | Well I have a Zune. And I've had an iPod (until it fell and broke). And I love my Zune. First and foremost it is 100% compatible with Windows. I don't have to install the cancer that is iTunes or QuickTime (I hate Quicktime and it's little icon on my system tray). Second, I have just under 120GB of music and a lot of it is WMA. You know how long iTunes wanted to take to convert my files? 30 FREAKIN DAYS! No thanks. But besides my hatred for Apple and everything that comes with it the Zune is actually very good. It's fallen and hasn't broken. The user interface is superior to that of iPods. The screen is much better. And it does what it's suppose to do, play music, pictures, and videos. People, this isn't a game console where you need support from 3rd party publishers to make games for your system to usefull. It's an MP3 player that will be useful to me even if Microsoft discontinues it tomorrow. So anyway, don't knock it until you actually use one. Everyone I show my "brown" Zune to says it's awesome. » Login to reply to this |

| Coolman,
What you are failing to realize is that you are a computer dude. You can buy a device, drag and drop files to the player, etc.
The problem is the 99% of the population that doesn't know how to do this. Apple's iTunes + iPod is ingenious because they work together seamlessly. So simple a girlfriend can use it!
That's why apple will have my business. They realized it first, they did it first, and it WORKS.» Login to reply to this |

| Wow, I dont even watch TV and I have seen a zune ad more than a few times just glancing at the TV. What is with people loving ipods? Either way you go you're paying a bunch for marketing crap, Im with the guy who said he likes creative media players. Why even debate between buying apple or microsoft when both devices are designed with marketplace-like places in mind so they can rake in the cash over time. Good mp3 player = simple interface, large storage, and broad media compatibility. I guess good sound quality should be there too. Peoples feelings for MS are such a mixed bag, everyone seems to love the xbox 360 but hate MS in every other regard... I think apple is definately the greater evil. Talk about making people do things their way. "YOU DON'T HAVE TO USE ITUENS!!! YOU CAN USE HAX0ReD FIRMWARE AND THIRD PARTY SOFTWARE!!!" Oh wait, my creative mp3 player showed up as a hard drive that you could simple drag and drop files to... hell they didnt even have to be media files.
But if I had to choose, I'd go with the zune. Hopefully apple and sony die quick deaths and we won't have to hear about their gimmicky crap anymore.» Login to reply to this |
