» I guess it's hard for FS to be positive about the PS3...
...after putting it down so much.

Here's a few coments to the observation made in this and the other PS3 "article".

1) Yes it's shiny but it won't get more dirty than anything else you'll just see the dirt easier. It's like a glass table get over it.

2) Not much on-line content. Come on it's very early days and it's not like there was much 360 content at launch allthough you seem to remember differently.

3) It's not very months ago since Microsoft let you download while doing other stuff plus at least you don't run out of room on the PS3 nearly as quickly.

4) The browser may be a little limited but again it's early. And where is the browser for the 360?

5) ABout the rechargeable controller well at least it's just that. Have you forgotten that was extra on the 360. Heck on the core 360 it's not even wireless.

6) What OS you say. Guess what there is a Linux just like for the PS2. At least do a little research.

I must say I wonder what has happend to the good old FS I used to visit almost every day. There is more and more console stuff and it seems the one goal is to protect Microsoft or something. You don't need to love the PS3 but at least be fair.

1. Yes, but the electrostatic forces generated by the electrical components in the PS3 will draw that much more dust.

So unless you have a power supply strapped to the bottom of a glass table, then it is nothing like a PS3.

1: Showing dirt isn't a good thing. Sure it will be as dirty as everything else but the last thing you want guests to see is how dirty things are.

2: I wasn't aware that Sony had a magic time machine and was planning on releasing the PS3 a year ago when the Xbox 360 launched. Basicly saying that the Xbox 360 lacked content is moot since PS3 is fighting the current Xbox 360 which has tons of games, demos, movies and TV shows for download.

3: Again Microsoft allows you to do other stuff while downloading Sony does not. Sure Microsoft didn't for a while but the point is moot since that is in the past not the current situation. Also while the Hard Drive is bigger on the PS3 it looks like the downloads are also bigger. So for example the hard drive on the PS3 is 3 times bigger but the game they downloaded on the PS3 was 5 times bigger than a Xbox 360 game.

4: Do you really think anyone has broadband and doesn't already own a PC? I bet you won't use it more than once or twice since the PC would be the better device for browsing the web.

5: Both wired and wireless have clear advantages. I would give a win to Microsoft because if you forget to recharge the PS3 controller then you could run out of power and be unable to use the system. Also if you recharge a battery before it has fully lost the charge it will wear out quicker.

6: Wow a feature for retard kids who think that being able to use linux makes them a 133t haxor. Since the PS3 has a 60GB hard drive and Linux is sever software it would be pretty retarded to run Linux on a PS3.

» Linux = server software??????
That is so wrong. Sure Linux can be used for servers but there are tons of people using Linux as a desktop OS and not just private folks.

The option to install an OS means the PS3 can be used just as a PC with Linux. In no time you could be running OpenOffice, Firefox and more and basicly do most things on your console.

Yeah, having Linux is great, it makes it possible to run all those Arcade classics (Roms) without modding your console.

Yeah, so if I give you a free kick to the groin you have no recourse to complain right?

Sorry, I couldn't help myself.

But seriously, people complain about free stuff all the time, and in this case it can only be compared to the other services on offer. Even if those other services are not free. You see some people are willing to pay a modest fee (yes live is a modest fee) for a superior product. Just look at services like fileplanet or giganews. Both cost a monthly fee far in excess of live, and both offer services that can be found elsewhere for free. Why do people pay? Because they are willing to.

Um, I think I got off track there somewhere...

Wow... so if they want a good service they are screwed right? Cos they can't even pay for it if they want to.

So you are saying that the PS3 network is pretty good but still needs a little more polish.

Was there by any chance an "plan to resell" field for that optional usage survey?

Though I know Sony has to start somewhere I feel they are nowhere near the level of Live. I would have hoped that they would have tried to be as close as possible but right now it sounds like in a day you could be bored with the online features.

Also why would they have a trailer for Talladega Nights? Isn't that movie included with every PS3 sold?
