| | (Post a comment) » PS3 eBay MadnessAs expected a ton of eBay listings have poppped up today with people wanting to sell off their Playstation 3 consoles that they purchased earlier today. This eBay page shows the highest bid prices for the consoles with a couple asking for $100,000 (good luck with that). While there have been some PS3s going for much higher bids, It looks like the sweet spot for prices on eBay is about $2,000 which is over four times the PS3 retail price. | Previous news article | Back to main news | Next news article |

| | It's sort of stupid not to sell it if you're not loaded. As long as you're not greedy (and stupid) and posting a starting price of $2000, you could get it sold the same day, and then have enough to get one next week, and a couple games, and a controller. Just for giving up "being the first one on the block". I could go without playing it for a week for an extra $600. Heck, if you search completed listings, they're going for about $1200 right now. So if you got one, you could sell it, just buy one next week, and it would be like you got it for free. Now buying one on ebay for $1200 just to play it a week or two earlier is just plain stupid. I think the people selling them just have more sense than money. » Login to reply to this Yoshi (2319) Nov 19, 2006 - 12:48 am
| | You won't get one in a week or two. Even if Sony hits the target it will take months before they show up in stores. Also the response from gamers has been pretty poor for the PS3. 8/10 people where buying the system to place on ebay. You would expect more than that given the buzz Sony has been trying for. » Login to reply to this Kamus (120) Nov 19, 2006 - 12:56 am
| You're being very naive Yoshi, this is a monetary issue, nothing more.
I can't wait to get a PS3 i can call my own, i managed to get my hands on two, i would love to open one, but with the demand so high, and the supply non-existent it would just be flat out stupid of me to buy it for myself at this point, once the market settles i'll get one for myself.
There's a very good reason 8 out of 10 people got it to resell it, lots, and lots of money.
there's a lot more "hardcore" people for money than there is for gaming.» Login to reply to this
