» Amazon To Sell 1,000 Xbox 360 Core For $100 Thursday

Black Friday may be happening the day after Thanksgiving but online retailer Amazon.com is having a huge sale on Thursday (Thanksgiving Day in the US). At 11 am PST the retailer will sell 1,000 units of Microsoft's Xbox 360 Core game console for just $100. Normally the Core system (which comes with a wired controller and no hard drive) sells for $299. There is a small catch: you have to have an Amazon.com account and go to the Amazon Customers Vote page to purchase the console. Amazon even has a page with tips to increase your chances on getting the Xbox 360 deal. Update Dell is now selling an Xbox 360 console (the full version with the 20 GB hard drive) for just $340 on their web site, a $60 price drop. In order to see the discount you have to go to the web page, and then go to the customise page and remove all the extra acccessories and then add the Xbox 360 system to the cart to see the discount.

I don't get it. As Toasty's post indicates the $100 Core system actually works out (apples to apples) to be $20 cheaper than Dell's offer. Why would someone spend 30 min constantly clicking refresh for a chance to save $20?

I got a 360 as well. I logged in about a half hour before the launch and just camped the page. I pulled up the clock on another computer and refreshed 3 seconds after 1 PM. The page refreshed right away, clicked the "I want one" button, added 10+3, checked the Terms of Service agreement button, and was good to go. $120 more (with shipping for all accessories) got me a hard drive, a VGA cable for my monitor, and a stereo to surround adapter for my PC speakers. Hopefully this all comes together well!

» can't get the Dell deal to work :(
If I remove all the accessories I can only get it down to the regular price of $400. Suggestions?

I tried too... loaded the page, followed the instructions to the LETTER, and didn't receive a claim code. Even though when i originally selected the deal it did NOT say sold out. Lame!

» Amazon's XBOX 360 deal
I was extremely lucky enough to get one, but I was very anxious when the server started to get very clogged down AFTER the sell went live and I got my confirmation code.

You lucky bastard :D

I was refresing the whole time 2:00 (im east coast here) and when it hit 2:00 the whole amazon site completely stopped working for me. I finally managed to refresh 10min later and was greated with a sold out screen. Oh well, there is still the Dell deal.

Sorry to hear that. )=

I just used Firefox and had 4 tabs of the customer's vote page up and constantly reloaded each one. Almost exactly 1:00 PM CST (or very shortly afterwards) the page updated and I got in. I got my confirmation code and tried to check out but the system completely bogged down at that point. I thought for sure that I was going to get screwed as I accidentally closed the tab with my confirmation code, but luckily enough, it was already automatically applied when I was able to load pages again. Moreover, I received an email with the confirmation code in it shortly afterwards.

Just kidding...I've just been getting a kick out of the forums on Amazon with people bitching up a storm. Enjoy your 360.
