 Tiger Woods Out...Until August!

| | (Post a comment) » Haze Dev UpdateLast May at E3, publisher UbiSoft officially announced Haze, an upcoming PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 first person shooter from Timesplitters developers Free Radical Design. A brief but live gameplay demo was shown on the E3 show floor which showed off some firefights in a jungle in the near future. The game's first press release stated that Haze was due out in early 2007. Since that time, however, there has been little to no info on the status of Haze and UbiSoft's current release schedule for the first quarter of 2007 does not have Haze in place. FiringSquad has attempted to contact UbiSoft to get an update on Haze but at the time of this news post the publisher has not yet responded to our inquires. However, UbiSoft's official forums for Haze are still active and have some post from a Free Radical Design team member named "frd_neko" that shed a little more light into what is going on with the status of the game. Here is a snip from a forum post back in November:
I'm kinda tired of waiting for any movement on this so I'm just gonna say it:
You're likely to hear more about HAZE again in January.
We've known for a while now this was likely to be the case but technically I'm not meant to mention it. However I can't really see what harm it's gonna do given that there's only a committed few here (good folks that you all are!).
I know it's been a long, long time since we announced anything about the game and that another couple of months seems a long time to wait but these things take time to organise and prepare, and as I've said before, we want to be *absolutely* sure we've got everything covered next time we show (we're putting the finishing touches to our next demo right now, but the lead times with these things mean it can't possibly be shown until Jan).
And, yeah, it's changed a bit. I'm not going to fully spill the beans but suffice to say that Mantel now has a very different face (lots cooler!), and one major aspect of the game has changed significantly (but don't worry, it's still an FPS and it's still set in the same lovely, lush jungle). Beyond that, well, wait till Jan, but I think it'll be worth it. | Previous news article | Back to main news | Next news article |
