Have you tried your overclock at lower voltage? Reason for asking is that I've had my E6700 up to 3.5GHz with less voltage than that. At the time I was using a Zalman 9500 and the temps kept getting higher that I wanted. Now I am using a 9700. At 3.4GHz running WCG - both cores 100% - the highest temp I've seen was 51°C with 24°C ambient. I used Arctic Silver Ceramique instead of Zalmans thermal paste.

Sounds like your Zalman 9700 was not seated properly or was defective or ???. Something wasn't right....

Note: All Zalman cooler do not come with the Fanmate as the article says. The fan speed is controlled by the motherboard on some models. Neither of mine came with a Fanmate controller.

FYI: The rest of my system consists of a Cooler Master Stacker 810, D975XBX2, 2 X 1GB of Crucial Ballistix PC2-8000 DDR2 1000MHz, 600 watt Enermax, and 2 X 150GB Raptors in RAID 0.

What's up with Arctic Cooling? It looks like they haven't released any new products for ages, is the company going under? Is their Freezer 7 Pro any better than the stock cooler?

Could you add a table showing the weights of each of the coolers, lower the safer (mainly for systems that are going to do a lot of travelling)?

Please?

Good idea, some coolers require metal back plates just to hold them. Reminds of the kevlar bra I saw once for...extreme loads.

I retested the 9700, but the results were the same. Look for the Scythe coolers, Thermaltake Big Typhoon or Coolermaster Hyper 6+ for overclocking.

i would REALLY REALLY REALLY like to see how this cooler stacks up against these ones. i know it totals the tuniqe tower, how does it fair against these?

www.frostytech.com seems to think the thermalright Ultra 120 is the shit.

» please include these cpu coolers
thanks and great review, but on your next one please kindly try the zalman again; the one you said was defective, and also try these cpu hsf cooling solutions:
http://www.vigorgaming.com/components/cmp_monsoonii_intel.html
http://www.zerotherm.net/eng/product/BTF90.asp
http://www.nmediapc.com/IT.htm

I would also like to see the same specs used again as you did on this review.

Thanks
