| | (Post a comment) » S.T.A.L.K.E.R. performance enhancements/SLI coming for GeForce 8 usersWe've learned that NVIDIA is hard at work on developing a new ForceWare driver for GeForce 8800 users that will bring performance enhancements as well as SLI support for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. One thing we've already noticed in our S.T.A.L.K.E.R. testing is that the GeForce 8800 GTX doesn't perform that much faster than the GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB with today's 97.92 driver, so hopefully the upcoming driver will really allow the GeForce 8800 GTX to flex its muscles. The new driver will hopefully be available sometime next week, we're keeping our fingers crossed.
This brings us to our next question: with this in mind, we were going to get started on our S.T.A.L.K.E.R. CPU performance article, but obviously with the GeForce 8800 GTX barely scaling over the GTS board we were wondering which GPU we should go with, and figured we'd ask the readers to see what you would like to see. Would you rather we use the Radeon X1950 XTX, or perhaps a pair of 7900 GTX cards running in SLI? Another option would be for us to just wait for the upcoming NVIDIA driver, and test the various CPUs with the GeForce 8800 GTX at that point. | "No body seems to mention what operating system they are using anymore when talking about game performance. This is asinine. It is fact that STALKER runs crappy in Vista so just say it. Those of us with the high end machines sticking with XP have a 95% success and enjoyment rate from our gameplay. I dont care what anyone says, real gamers know ###### well there is a handful of games that can run for maybe 15 minutes before crasing in Vista. This whole thing has become a Farce. A Charade."
