(Post a comment) » Unofficial NVidia v5.13 DetonatorsAlmost three weeks ago, a special set of NVidia drivers were
"leaked" out to the public containing support for S3TC and software
anti-aliasing. (Coincidentally just before 3dfx was to show off their VSA-100
technology at GDC.) We did our own analysis
and found that the drivers did live up to their claim, though with a huge
performance hit.
3DChipset got a hold of an updated Beta v5.13 Detonators set for all the
Windows platforms. So if you're feeling adventurous with unofficial and
unsupported drivers, best of luck:
Something worth mentioning in this release it that it had added support for a
as-yet-unannounced GeForce2 GTS. Soon, we hope, soon. | Previous news article | Back to main news | Next news article |

Just as an experiment, everyone turn their texture details down a
bit, limit yourself to 16 bit color, and run whatever game in its
highest supported resolution (hopefully at least 1024 x 768, but
1280 x 1024 is best). Now tell me if you REALLY need FSAA?:)

AFAIK, there never was a Voodoo Rush AGP card. It came out way
before AGP was out. If you have an old AGP 3dfx card, it's most
likely a Banshee.
Of course better advice would be to get a real video card. #$##, I
remember thinking my V2 had much better image quality (than my old
pos rush), and then when I changed to the TNT2, that made the V2
look like crap as well.

given that it's software level, yes, this is is a nice jump. But a
software hack just won't be as fast as a hardware implementation.
It's nice that nvidia's FSAA lets you run effectively higher
resolutions,

Nvidia is doing a good work implementing good software antialiasing
in their drivers.
Is best obtain good (and fast)antialiasing software that buy
hardware antialias whit poor image work and a cost of 600 bucks!!

Just a quick question, these drivers should work for any nvidia
card? Last time I tried to use detonator drivers it bonked out my
Viper V770, I had to use the drivers that came with the card to get
it working again...

I have a TNT and it doesn't seem to work, although there is a
checkbox there. :(
I know it wouldn't be fast enough, but I'd like to see what it looks
like.
