 Tiger Woods Out...Until August!

| | (Post a comment) » Removed: FSAA Comparison: V5500/ GF2If you're looking for our first FSAA comparison article, we've decided to yank it from the site. After a good deal of internal discussion today, we decided on this course of action because the protocols used in the first article were not the best possible way to base a comparison. As mentioned before, we're working on a new comparison test involving two identically configured machines, sitting side by side.
FSAA is a very complex topic, and it's certainly a feature that cannot be characterized, measured, or compared by any traditional means. Because of that, we're going to handle the new article with even more care and attention than anything we've ever done before. FiringSquad is committed to providing the highest quality content. We're not going to be satisfied with anything less than our best possible effort. | Previous news article | Back to main news | Next news article |

And 114
If something is coming out in a few weeks the card sure a hell will
not be a beta card and the drivers sure as hell are not alpha
the V5500 is almost out of Beta drivers while the Geforce 2 is out
of beta drivers.
But as with the jump from 3.68 to 5.16 preformace can only improve

Also, forgive me for my spelling errors, I didn't check brefore
posting,
and I'm still not going to.
And I guess I also should have said;
Which is better a P3 750 (because the GF2 is severly crippled) or
Dual P3 600's.
And which is better, all your games work when the game is released,
or lots have to wait for patch to be released ( which Gforce owners
know so much about).
I have always used 3dfx cards and I've never had problems running
games but i have friends who have Gforce cards that had to wait a
while to play games like Homeworld, and Messiah. And I know
there are many other titles that had the same problems.

Wow, some people are getting really carried away with putting down
3dfx. The V5 has not been released yet and people are comparing
it against a final product (Gforce 2). As far as i know the V5 is
still
in the works, with the first beta card veing clocked at 100mhz and
the 2nd at 166mhz. Plus the drivers are alpha which means they are
not optimized, they are just supposed to get the card to work.
If you look at the all the benchmarks you will see that the V5 takes
over at high resolutions 1280x1024 which really shows that this card
really does has some real power. I know there are lots of people
who
hate 3dfx because they bow make their own cards but don't let this
blind you of the facts. The Gforce 2 gts is crippled because of
the
the memory bandwidth and anyone who says otherwise is kidding
themselves, just look at the benchmarks. If I owned a Gforce DDR,
I would not be thinking about buying a gforce 2 because it really
isn't
any faster. And for those who say that the GForce 2 drivers are
not
muture, please. seeing how Nvidia are using the same drivers for
both cards and the GForce is been out for a year, enough said.
And another thing, which is better? A p3 600 or dual P3 600's?
hmmm. Thats a tough one, not. I think everyone need to leave
3dfx alone for now and wait for there product to be released and
benchmark it then. I think most of you will be eating their
words.
And please stop talking about T&L please. Game developers
have known that the Gforce would have it for over a year and 1 1/2
years now amd i still don't see really any support for it so those
of you who are buying cards just for that fe

V5-5500 is good,GF2 rocks, but if u want to have the fastest
"thing" on the market you must spend a 1500 bucks a year
only for graphic cards
P.S.On my Celeron463-128MBRam-IntelI740 all games works
perfectly,all but UT.
LONG LIVE GREAT SERBIA!

Yeah i agree that the fsaa article could have been done better. It
is one of the hardest things to compare between different cards
without people seeing the two side by side in person i bet. Well
goodluck on the new and improved fsaa article fs.

Although nVidia doesn't have FSAA enabled in DirectX games (at least
older DX games), I find it amusing that a few people mention that
the V5 5500 has FSAA available on all games now. The card has not
even been released!
As far as I am concerned, no cards currently on the market (the only
ones that matter) properly support FSAA.

I have heard that the FSAA in the GeForce 2 GTS only works in OpenGL
and DX 7. Does anyone know why it doesn't work in DX 5 or 6? What
possible feature does it use in DX 7 to allow it to supersample? I
would have thought that the drivers would intercept all of the calls
to make the correct sized frame buffer? Any ideas?
