| this isnt the only place to get benchmarks... the only reason they have benchmarks is if you want to buy the video card or not.
Its good to look at high resolutions even though you dont play at them. Just to see the maximum of video card usage preformance and compare.
And if you have the video card already just test your own system.
To be honest i have a 2ms 19 inch lcd and it maxes out at 1280x1024.
(reason for buying this monitor was that older games dont do widescreen good)
I looked for higher resolution lcd 19 inch but couldnt find any... .
With all these low resolution lcd monitors i guess anti-aliasing benchmarks might become more important.(alot of people have 17 inch at same resolution)
Anything higher than 1280x1024 is probably a wide screen resolution for lcd.» Login to reply to this |

| 2600xt performing on par with 8800gts? What are you smoking? If you mean 2900xt, I forgive you.
Why doesn't Firingsquad benchmark 1280x1024 resolution? Not everyone has 1600x1200 and up monitors. Lot of us are on 19" screens.» Login to reply to this Anonymous (-) Oct 15, 2007 - 05:31 pm | Edited on Oct 15, 2007 - 05:31 pm

| | Get another job then, if your on a 19' mon still then come out of the stone age. 22 and 24" panels are getting cheaper by the day. Move up with us big boys in 2007/08. COD4 and Crysis just cant be beat running max settings at 1920 x 1200 in all its glory! » Login to reply to this marvelous (16) Oct 15, 2007 - 05:34 pm | Edited on Oct 15, 2007 - 05:39 pm
| I got this LCD monitor last year. Why do I need a new monitor when this one looks fantastic compared to even new ones? I don't know about you but I don't change monitors every year. I'm actually on a widescreen. 1440x900 but it compares to 1280x1024 pixels.
There are many people using this resolution who are on medium range graphics cards like 8600gts, 2600xt, 1950pro. You are forgetting huge chunk of PC industry belongs to this part of the market. Not dual 8800gtx or 2900xt with 30" monitors.
I read firingsquad often and I can't stand web sites who only show 1920x1200 and 2560x1600. Reviewers aren't being realistic.
I think 1280x1024, 1600x1200, 1920x1200 what most people run. Drop the 2560x1600. Barely any people use that resolution.» Login to reply to this DocHoliday69 (1) Oct 15, 2007 - 06:40 pm
| | Most people play @1600/1200 that I know and I play @ 2560/1600 with a 30" monitor and 99.9% of the PC gamers play @ the highest res they can so I'd say your a little off on your post. Plus why should they give your specific resolution compared to just an average, I don't always see my res on reviews, they just must give what they can as far as the hardware they are using @ the time. I always feel I can get an idea of performance when my res is not included in the review. We aren't all special and deserve to get our specific wants, these guys are doing us a favor by letting us know how it performs. » Login to reply to this |

| Three big games that have come out - Bioshock, Unreal 3, and TF2 have the 2600 xt performing on par with the 8600 gts and it's $50 cheaper.
In the last gen the 2600 xt did suck. It seems it really was designed for next gen games. You guys should add that card to your other game tests.
(the 2600 xt doesn't do so hot in CoD4 cause it hasn't been optimized, still 3/4 of next gen games ain't bad)» Login to reply to this |
