It's rumored that there will be G92 variants which are faster than the GT in the coming weeks?

Nvidia seems to enjoy shafting consumers by making competition with itself. I just got my 8800GT and it would seem silly to release another variant which is faster so quickly after the GT's launch and immense success.

Considering the rate at which the performance GPU market turns over you will always get "shafted" if you buy for the sake of owning a fast card. If you purchase based on your needs and budget, then it wont matter if another card comes out, in a month, which is faster, because you will have had a working computer for that month and this has its own value.

Well, remember that it's all rumors at this point, it's certainly not guaranteed. But yes, rumor has it we'll see faster G92s in Dec. These would likely be $400+ parts, so quite a bit more than your 8800 GT.

Yeap, a good plan would be to get ahold of an 8800GT now and grab another when you want more performance.

Now I want to see a $500 card with 512bit bus, 1GB RAM, and 256 stream processors so I can play Crysis with all the eye candy turned on.
