Well I'd argue that one could do that (build an Intel quad core system for less than $1000) BEFORE Phenom. Thus the onl result of Phenom is that one can do the same with and AMD CPU as well. No matter. These two will bash each others brains out for years to come. If AMD wasn't a threat at all, not just a weak threat, then I postulate that the Q6600 would be in the $400-$500 range just as the Athlon X2 was before Intel had anything close to a dual core competitor. So the Phenom is still a success as far as the consumer is concerned. » Login to reply to this
