I'm not sure how Nissan's drive, but I do know how a Mini Cooper S drives, and based on that criterion GT5 is less realistic than PGR, much less some of the better sims out there. Name the category - from outright handling, weight transfer characteristics or acceleration/braking, GT5 gets everything wrong. Granted I don't own a driving wheel, but the whole feel of the car and its performance envelop are totally divergent from reality. I feel the same about the model they used for high horsepower/RWD cars, but since i've never gotten to drive one can't comment specifically... GT5 will be worth getting when it comes out simply because its GT5, but do yourself a $40 favor and wait until then. Its not that pretty and its not that fun. just my two cents...

It took me bloody hours to translate the Japanese version menu titles. It doesn't contain an English conversion. The racing menu setup is important as its options of stability control, traction, and active breaking. There is a few important setups in the steering setup also for a proper force-feedback feel.

I was a dissapointed at the start in the graphics in the driving mode as I was expecting it be as good as Colin M's 'DIRT'. But in the replay it looks really good! I didn't like the wind sound effect when racing on the open fast tracks... its deafening and you can't even hear the engine.

The cars are rendered perfectly. The lighting is awsome. The aliasing is inexcusable. Whether that's Sony's fault or Polyphony Digital's fault, I don't care. It's a zit on an otherwise beautiful face that I just can't see past. Well, that and I wasn't overly impressed with the rest of the details of the scenes presented in the screen captures. They were flat and boring. The far distant textures look good, certainly, but what's up with the cotton candy grass and the lack of textures in the rest of the scene? Outside of the cars, the foreground just lacks any sort of detail. So maybe graphics aren't the most important thing. 5 tracks. $40. Requires an investment in a steering wheel for full enjoyment? Maybe if that $40 included the steering wheel... And maybe if the rest of the PS3 experience didn't suck so bad... 95%? Good Lord.

I'm so gonna sell my Xbox 360 with Forza 2 when the final version of GT5 comes out! :)

Forza 2 is damn good. Maybe GT5 won't even really be better than it, but its graphics are a bit "meh", and GT5 will have more cars.

Agreed. This review seems quite biased and your final score fails to take into account the true value of the content...or lack thereof.

This is a demo, and they should bill it as such. Expecting consumers to buy this for $50, and then slap down another $60 when the real game is finally released is ridiculous.

I'm a long time GT fan but this is crap. And as a long time Firingsquad fan, I'm even more disappointed in this inflated review.

For the sake of integrity, I think this deserves a second opinion from a different reviewer.

Well, my score is based upon the fun factor of the game. In terms of long-term replayability, GT5 is exceptional. When you think about games that last only 8 or 10 hours, there's a certain amount of value. Then there are games with "infinite replay" value that end up being sort of repetitive and boring, where after a while, you stop caring.

GT5 is really that much fun.

The "you need a steering wheel" issue isn't as big of deal. It's like needing a guitar for Guitar Hero. If you're a Guitar Hero fan, you don't need to buy a new Guitar for the latest sequel. The same is true for the Gran Turismo series.

Good point. Most console games these day offer less than 10 hours of gameplay, with little to no replay value, sometimes no online/multiplay at all, and they still come out at full price.
