| | (Post a comment) » Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas Settlement Web Site LiveLast November, Take Two Interactive settled a class action lawsuit brought against the game publisher because of the "Hot Coffee" mod in the Rockstar Games branded crime action title Grand Theft Auto:San Andreas. Now the lawsuit's web site has gone live for people who want to collect their piece of the lawsuit. Simply put if you bought the game before July 20, 2005 you are eligible for some kind of settlement. If you have just the game disk you will just get a replacement disk. However if you have other proof of the game's purchase you are eligible for cash awards all the way up to $35 if you can produce a detailed store receipt. | » BS This crap shouldn't even be published here. Taking money out of Rockstar's pockets for a mod is ridiculous.
I bet 95% of the people who cash on in this didn't give a damn about the hot coffee shenanigans. Shame on them for participating.» Login to reply to this Phirewind (894) Jan 28, 2008 - 10:16 pm
| | Actually, Take Two deserves what they get. Not because of the content itself, but because they denied that it was there, blamed third parties for creating the content, and did everything they could to deny responsibility for what was clearly their own fault. Even though it required a hardware mod to activate it, it was put in there by the creators. In the end, all they did was go out of their way to fuel the anti-game fires and make the rest of the industry suffer for their idiocy. » Login to reply to this elh (16) Jan 29, 2008 - 07:36 am
| » No hardware mods I think you're overstating this, it was just a software patch for a PC and can't blame them for blaming 3rd parties - how can they be responsible for software that others have released.
besides in my view, sex is more or less natural thing, whereas explicit gore and violence for which they were not fined is not your everyday behaviour I hope. Oh well, just poor judgement me thinks...» Login to reply to this |
