» Xbox 360 Core Won't Work With Online Multiplayer Burnout Paradise

Gametap reports that owners of the Core and Arcade editions of Microsoft's Xbox 360 console (the versions without a hard drive) won't be able to access the online multiplayer features of EA's just released arcade racing game Burnout Paradise. The online features require the use of the Xbox 360 hard drive to store temporary data. The single player portions of the game are not affected.

Why is this news? It's called "reading the back of the box".

*sigh*

This is all moot: a person that owns a core sure as hell isn't going to have an XBox Live Gold membership, anyway.

Why not? You can save your profile on a 64mb card if you wanted and play games just as much as anyone. They may not be able to download as many demos but they can use live just as much as anyone.

Not true.. now that there are 500mb and 1g memory cards readily available. However.. I don't understand why the game would not ask you to specify your storage device like ever other 360 game on the market

It was stupid for Microsoft to release a version without a HDD in the frist place.

It's far too limiting, especially when it can only read DVDs.

Don't get me wrong, at the moment I'd buy a 360 over the PS3 any day of the week, but the lack of space games have to work with is going to become more apparent sooner rather than later.

I disagree, if Oblivion can fit on a single DVD the problem will be later rather than sooner unless your making a JRPG with hours of 1080p HD video

with the HDD, one of the great mistakes this generation, multi editions of the single console, RROD and paying for online play (have people pay for all the extra special match making stuff, but not basic online play, we already payed for that when we bought the game :/ )

Oblivion has very limited variability, the map is huge, but it's just the same generic cloned stuff everywhere. Even GTA3 on PS2 had more variety.

Yeah, but they'll work fine if you've got a hard drive. Ease up on the scary headlines. :)
