» THQ CEO Gives Warhammer 40,000 MMO Update

During THQ's financial conference call with analysts, company execs gave a brief update on their plans for the Warhammer 40,000 MMO title. The game was announced last year as part of THQ's spring press event in March 2007 and today CEO Brian Farrell stated he saw a build of the game at their Austin based dev studio Vigil Games last November, claiming he was "pleasantly surprised" at the state of game and its progress, saying, "So far, so good." However he also stated that the game is still a ways away from completion, stating they wanted to take their time on the title.

I'm very excited about this. A Warhammer 40k MMO maybe one of the few things that could pull me away from my crippling WoW addiction.

I would prefer they work on Dawn of War 2 instead, damn MMO's are what's ruining PC gaming. 10 Million people playing WoW. That's 10 million not buying new games, not updating their systems, not contributing to anything but Blizzard's fat pockets.

I'd like to see a new DoW2 soon too. I enjoyed playing Dawn of War a few years ago but, after playing CoH, I can't play it anymore since it just looks so dated. I'd like to see a new Dawn of War with a modern graphics engine.

DoW is developed by Relic. THQ only distributed it. But you're right, I'd love to hear something about it, especially if the tyranids are in it...nasty buggers.

The best statement ever made IMHO iw that they don't want to rush the game out. So many MMO's are rushed out half-baked. I am glad THQ is taking their time to get it done right since am a huge Warhammer 40,000k fan.

I hear ya. Although I couldn't care less if it had you playing as generic ultramarines, I'm glad THQ is doing it and they are taking their time with it.

Not that I'd normally agree with Traiterous Chaos Scum such as yourself, hehe. :-D
