I have to agree with the suggestion to appeal to hard core gamers with regards to the Wii. I like it. It is a fun console for when friends come over to play party like games but when I just want to kill some time at home alone, I don't grab the Wii. I play the PS3. It has better single player games and online play. The Xbox 360 just has so many hardware problems and is so loud that I sold mine and never looked back. I don't even get tempted to buy it again whenever I walk into an electronics store.

I'm still amazed by how bad MS let their hardware failures get. It's still one of the main reasons I don't pick up a 360 (along with the fact that I have no HDTV).

I may end up sitting out this gen and waiting for the 720. Or maybe just wait another year or so, pick up a cheap 360 after the holiday season along with a bunch of budget-priced games and hope that I've missed all the faulty hardware.

Thing about the PS3 is all the fans of BluRay are telling people to buy a PS3 for a bluray player because it will support BR 2.0 and cost what about $40 more than the cheapest standalone? and came with free movies hell the $500 one came with what 15 free movies?

Judging from everything posted all over the net(so this is pure speculation) A good amount of the people buying it have zero intention of buying games for it, which has the possibility to lead to low sales of really good games and the death of any small developers thinking they have this decent sized group of gamers. It may be a win loss for Sony, they sold the most bluray players but the fewest gaming consoles ;P

That makes since especially if Microsoft keeps screwing their customers by returning old, recycled units for repairs. I can't wait to see how old the unit will be when I get mine back from it's second failure in a year. If that happens to enough people and they start trading in their 360's for PS3's, then gaming will be the primary concern with the added benefit of having a Blu-Ray player. Bonus! Gaming will be fine

Can I just ask where these $60 a year figures are coming from?

Amazon: $44 for 12 month card

ChiefValue, aka Newegg: $40 for 12 month card

Is that $60 figure Australian dollars?

» Not nextgen. It is current gen ;)
Indeed. Firingsquad should note that the 360, PS3 and Wii are current or present generation systems. Yes, the Xbox, PS2 and Gamecube are last generation. Time to update the database :P
