Gibson said the games, in which players press buttons on a guitar-shaped controller in time with notes on a TV screen, violates a 1999 patent for technology to simulate a musical performance.

Just ridiculous. This "sue-happy" society we live in all started when some judge ruled in favor of the dumb*** woman who sued McD's for burning herself with the coffee.
Once that was allowed...it opened up doors for everyone.
And of course it's because of the popularity and success of Guitar Hero. Look at the morons known as the "Romantics." They sued over the fact that their song, which they agreed to be allowed in the game, was "too close" to the real song. | Perhaps Activision was supposed to pay those revenues agreed upon sales of the game and they decided to skew the numbers just as Hollywood does. Then they screwed Gibson out of game revenues and this is how Gibson is trying to get their money this way.
Of course that is all purely speculative. However remember look before you leap and are so quick to judge lawsuits because many times there are other meanings or reasons behind them.» Login to reply to this |
