i stopped giving a $#!T about this test along time ago, Nice for stability testing of course but after a while whats the point of a couple of hundred or thousand points on this benchmark? Oh well things changed for me i guess when i realised how much i was forking out to improve the PCs performance. My wallet has been thankful ever since LOL

But don't you want to impress everyone with the fastest computer possible (for the next 6 months)? Then do it all over again?

I'd like to hear what FS has to say about Futuremark not having DX10.1 compatibility. Isn't this supposed to be a benchmark for the future?

How can it be for the future if it isn't even up to date?

Also, how much did nVidia pay to keep the software DX10.0 instead of 10.1?

Why would I pay for nVidia propaganda?

Futuremark Vantage is basicly a year late to the party. I mean it uses PhysX which maybe two years ago people thought might be a little bit important but really it wasn't. Now that the PhysX app is owned by NVIDIA it gives a chance for a unfair advantage in future NVIDIA drivers. Basicly NVIDIA can release a driver that allows the GPU to act like a PPU durring the physicss tests and run them as hardware since the tests are not very demanding on the graphics card. ATI would be stuck running it in software while NVIDIA would gain the advantage of being able to run 90% of the graphics card power doing nothing but physics for a test.

The other problem is that Futuremark is a test using system requirements higher than some systems sold. Really the bottom of the line systems sold are using about a GeForce 4 level of graphics card. Till that stops happening we are going to see those kinds of graphics cards as the low end on the game box.

The greatest benefit we editors here at FS get from 3DMark is testing stability of our OCs. The CPU tests are great for stressing OC stability, as are the game tests. For those of you who don't know, we will typically run them looped to test stability.

For that purpose, 3DMark continues to be a great tool.

Doesn't Sandra automatically loop tests for stability?

So I ran Futuremark and it really it wasn't at all like a game at all. It was like running a tech demo instead of showing anything even close to a game.

While sure some of the 3d effects are going to be used in a game the use of a tech demo isn't at all like a game where normally the field of view is first or third person. This gives a more limiting view. For example for the space demo in a real space game you would have a cockpit taking up a lot of the screen reducing the rendering needed for the rest.

For the Spy demo we would probably see it using third person for that type of game. Because the player will always be in focus part of the screen will always be blocked by her fat ass. So really we are not getting a real look at what games would be like. Add in the fact they want to make it look like a game might look in 2014 and you end up with pure crap that isn't worth the time to render.

On a plus side the trial version only runs once since I don't think I need to see that crap on my computer again.

Yes, I was thinking "3DMark 2011" myself. Particularly when a $4000 extreme gaming PC gets humiliated. I would say it's the same rant every time a new 3DMark is released. This time Futuremark wasted $5,000,000. Nobody's going to buy this for the sake of TWENTY POINT ONE FPS, WOOHOO. (Gangsta pose)

FutureMarks "test" is equivalent to a car manufacturer dyno'in their cars on a dyno designed to take advantage of their cars particular characteristics and saying,"Look how great our cars are, they outperform all these other cars." No, its worse, at least a dyno puts the engine under a real load. This is like stressing an engine with the trany in neutral and saying look how great our test and engines are?!?!?! I don't get it. Maybe I am supposed to be distracted by the animated cleavage and the pretty colors.

Duh, drools on self, pays 2k for a TV and then can't hook it up, while stuffing my face with a Big Mac and uttering,"FutureMark cool."
