Needs a new revision before it is interesting.
1. Die shrink, hopefully 45nm
2. Ditch 512bit and go for superfast GDDR5
3. Card size reduction
4. Price reduction

I'd like that too. But you're asking them to use a more expensive process, use more expensive components and to sell it cheaper.

At this time it would be difficult to make those changes but I don't doubt that they are currently already working on the next version.
As an example avoided the poor x2900xt and got a 3870 instead. Nvidia's new line as well as Ati's x2900xt would've forced me to buy a new PSU too...so it would've been costly and more difficult to quietly cool down.

I think I prefer the $199 for near high end performance ala 8800GT pricing model.

I'm actually starting to hope Intel kills off the video card with oboard ray tracing in the CPU.

This is what would save PC gaming.

The new cards dont impress me and not worth $650 for 10 to 15 more frames per second that Im getting now. Plus the fact as stated there are no new cool hyped up games that are coming to the PC anytime soon to justify one of these cards.

Yea huh there is!

Far Cry 2 is coming out and getting one now will give me 10-15 more frames when I imagine the game.

Plus, my comp came out to $14, 286.78, so what's another $650. Maybe I should do SLI, y'think?

On top of that, all these silly copy protection schemes and limited number of installs are brutal.

Indeed. If anything is going to kill PC gaming is all the DRM crap and restrictive practices that users won't tolerate.

Yeah it seems like overkill given the lack of upcoming games that need the power in these new cards.

Is there still a market for these expensive cards? It seems like the era of the big budget flashy pc game that pushes video cards that aren't even out on the market yet is over. Piracy and consoles and budget increases have done those games in. It doesn't seem like Nvidia has recognized this. No new flashy pcgames means a lot less interest in high end vid cards.

Gotta definetly agree.. but to clarify: there are many new PC games that are still coming out. Its just that perception of what's "flashy" has changed.

Back in the day, when Xbox was the flagship console, there were many PC exclusive games, that slowly trickled down to consoles, and trying to make do in BF2 on anything less than X800 was brutal. Hence perfect timing of arrival of 6600GT and its massive sales.

Certainly would have helped nVidia if Half-Life3, or FarCry2 was launching alongside their uber black cards. (Age of Conan doesnt count - even low end can play that).

Ofcourse, it doesnt help GTX adds no new must have features, costs a ton, and market is already saturated with super cheap GT's.
