This game rocks. Low learning curve, high mastery curve, and highly competitive.

Very well balanced when you play to win (though for sure there are many "don't do this" things you can do, but there aren't any overwhelming imbalances)

I get the occasional dropped game, but that is because of other people not knowing how to do basic peering.

Pantheon works fine for me and has always worked fine. (again, basic peering setup)

Best multiplayer game to come out in a long time.

Sorry, I guess I was horribly wrong. After all, the main feature of the game, the Pantheon, still doesn't even work at all. You can go on the demigod forum, in the journals section and see the stardock CEO apologize for it. Sorry but yes I am adding something: the missing review paragraph stating that online IS BROKEN.

Thanks to Firing Squad for the thoughtful review (and to fisherman for the counterpoint). I'm sorry to see baseless invective from people like trizzm, whose repeated flames were totally uncalled-for and added nothing. Please, keep up the good work.

Arbie

For the people that don't know, the problem with multi-player originated from all running copies of the game calling home for updates, hitting the same server used to run the multi-player matches, so according to the article I read, 80% of the hits came from pirated version of the game causing problems for the legit users trying to play the game online. It was mistake StarDock admitted to and fixed the next day the game was released. What pisses me off the most is the no good pirating bastard that caused the problem to begin with, talking shit about the game, saying it's full of bugs, but it's because of them that the problem is an issue to being with. What's cool about stardock is that they know the game was going to be pirated anyways so they really don't care that 80% of the people playing their games are pirates, they concentrate on their customers and provide the support they deserve, and they don't punished them by using stupid DRM.

Demigod is not a good game. There are 8 heroes with sub-par to no customization, there are about 4 skills for each hero(upgraded 5 times each) and then there are lame variations for each of the skills at the end of the tree, the creep waves are automated(just like dota) except that you don't have to last hit/deny(a meta-game in itself) there are about 30 items total, none of them have any unique features and some just summon units that you can't really control, or give lame buffs like 4x critical if you attack, or give you health when you attack, the game is more of an autoattack game than a skill-based game, the RTS elements are null, it feels like an arcade gauntlet of legends(except that game was fun)I don't even understand how anyone can be better than anyone else, there is no control of anything in the game really other than combining your 2 attacks with someone's 2 attacks so you can kill a hero and that is the game in a nutshell.

Take it from someone who buys every game for the Pc/Ds as I am impartial when reviewing games and I was excited about the game just as much as anyone else, but the fact is it is a hollow shell of dota, not a rts at all, and it's more of a beat-em-up arcade style game than it is a rts/action game.

In short if you find this type of game appealing, go and buy warcraft 3 and install dota, it is much more dynamic than Demigod, and league of legends(Icefrog/Guinsoo, Dota allstars creators/maintainers) is being made for this year and should be the real successor to dota, unlike demigod the superficial-idiot clone.

-ps Forgot to mention the game has no single player, tutorial, or any introduction, the reason for this is simple, anyone can learn the game in 5 minutes, seriously there are about 2 skills that you will use for each class(out of the 5 there are) so you are pressing 2 buttons, there is no mini-game, no side objectives, you run around the map taking these flags that someone takes back in 5 seconds, unless you carry an item that prevents that from happening for 45 seconds, while you upgrade your keep or get items to improve your killing ability depending what type of hero you are, a balance of both usually wins games, but like i said it doesn't take skill and games are often stalemates once everyone maxes out the upgrades(there are options to decreases the gold rate, but nobody really tinkers with that stuff anyways).

My point is why get a game that has 1/12 of the heroes Dota has? and about 1/2000 of the originality of skills(pudge's hook, void's chronospehere, Lyana traps, etc) although dota has its fair share of rehashed skills this is mostly when it comes to stuns, the animations are similar, but it is limited by warcraft 3 engine, the creators did a fair job of customizing the skills.

Towers are static objects that have limited range and add nothing to the strategic element of the game in demigod, they don't target heroes first, they don't prevent pushes at all, they are easily killed by siege skills, but the reason why towers are useless in the game is because the creeps are unintelligent and the fact that heroes can kill a whole creep wave by themselves creates no real "pushing" battle at all, and no sense of danger when a tower falls, unlike dota

First let me talk about favor items, these are items that are persistent throughout each game that your general/assassins use, the idea of anything carrying over in a random game like demigod is just stupid, overtime people will all have the same favor items, but right now it gives people an unfair advantage that have maxed out favor points.

Most of the items there are inferior compared to their counterparts, hungarling's crown is vastly superior to other mana regen items, not to mention it offers an aura,
bulwark offers 25% damage reduction, which alone makes it the only viable tanking option, and the ashkandors giving 4x critical damage, leaves nothing to replace it, i mean this lack of progression, the exclusion of recipes level 1-2-3-4-5 as in dota makes items inferior and not worth getting at all, while in dota combining items and keeping the inferior items is a must and makes the game interesting, because you are not stuck to one route.

I posted this on another forum I frequent, so some of it may not be coherent(quotes and such) sorry!
