| | I just want it out since it will force people to upgrade from XP even if it is no better than Vista. The sooner gamers can count on 64-bit computers and at least DX10 graphics the better. » Login to reply to this w00t (924) Jul 05, 2009 - 12:24 am
| You're nonsensical (again).
XP has a 64bit version.
DX10 is pretty much pointless, all hype no show, the devil was in the details.
I'm not going to move from XP on the machines that have it: there just nothing interesting in Vista/7, and there sure are lots of annoyances (from drivers to sluggishness, like the post-XP "File Open" dialogs... urg I hate those slow things).
As for security, well don't use Outlook or IE and you'll be safer than the lastest Vista/7.» Login to reply to this larsig (780) Jul 07, 2009 - 08:16 pm
| And people wonder why everyone says "But everyone else says vista sucks!" It's by word of mouth of the dumbasses that don't know shit about computers and those that don't know enough to recognize when the people telling them x are just spouting a bunch of bs.
XP 64 bit was failz. If I remember correctly it was built off the server line, which meant a lot of the stuff the average user would want to do they would have to jump through hoops to get done, if they could at all. I definitely didn't miss it when I made the switch to Vista.» Login to reply to this |

| It's funny that someone would call another "nonsensical" yet spout about details they know nothing about, clearly.
XP 64bit is pretty poor. You cite driver issues as a reason you don't like Vista or 7 yet, especially x64, the driver support is FAR better for either of the newer OSes than it is for XP.
And again, maybe you're too clueless to understand this but we've seen nothing but games that tack on DX10 support as an afterthought. We've seen no games built with DX10 in mind. DX10 is superior but the game has to be coded and optimized for DX10 (or 11).
You're also completely insane if you think that Firefox on Windows XP is more secure than IE8 on Vista or Windows 7. Process seperation combined with user-mode isolation makes IE8 more secure by default. Combine that with the fact that there have been far fewer vulnerabilities for IE in the last 2 years than there have for Firefox guess what you have... a more secure browser, on a more secure OS. Keep telling yourself whatever you want since facts don't seem to be part of your vocabulary.» Login to reply to this |
