Are the Inner Sphere and Clan Mech Paks being made available for free also? If so then that's great. The price gauging for these paks are riduculous on Ebay. $40 to $50 each.

I enjoyed playing MW4:Mercs especially with Mektek's MekPak expansion and Mech Storm's High Definition Patch.

» FS reviews MechWarrior 4
Worst MW ever? Not according the Firingsquad. Check out the review.

Something that struck me as funny was, this game came out when DirectX8 was just being released. That was almost 10 years ago and here we are still playing games with Directx9. But looking at the graphics today, compared to back in 2000 and video games graphics have come a really long way. I think next time I'm playing a modern game and I start complaining about graphics, I will look back at the older game reviews and appreciate what I have now.

It is not the graphics that made this a bad game (I freely admit they were great for the time.)

It is the arcadey shoot'em up, gameplay. It was a complete about face from MW 3.

I was a hardcore Netmech player and was disgusted by MW3 due to some irritating arcadish and amateurish elements, but Mech4 was an enjoyable game for tactical multiplayer gameplay (with the forced first person perspective option).

I hope the new mechwarrior will better simulate the size and weight of the machines in the control and animation.

So you would rather have your face melted off rather than have the choice to download a FREE game?

I dunno... would you download and enjoy free Daikatana?

MechWarrior 4 is the Daikatana of PC MechWarriors. Reminds me alot of MechWarrior on the SNES.

Things are more complicated... MW4 is so vile, while MW1->3 are so awesome, that I must convince as many people as possible of MW4's absolute awfulness so the new MechWarrior isn't as worthless.

It's a choice though. It's not like anyone is cramming it down your throat.
