» LucasArts President teases on possible X-Wing, TIE Fighter announcement

Considering LucasArts recent remakes of Monkey Island and the release of several classic LucasArts titles on Steam last month, G4TV wisely asked LucasArts President Darrel Rodriguez the question we've all been wondering -- does the company plan to make any announcements regarding the X-Wing or TIE Fighter series of space sims? Rodriguez cryptically responded:

"We don’t have any announcements now, but stay tuned," said Rodriguez. "We will soon….." (Spotted on Kotaku)

a.) I wouldn't spit on either of those even with my gay ass. And b.) You're simple and easily amused.

I guess I am simple and easily amused because I want the somewhat complex gameplay of the space combat sims to return? OK.

Please oh please make another good quality Xwing or tie space flight sim. No freaking rail shooters or third person shooters, I want a freaking space combat sim that requires a joystick, some energy management, and some thinking involved.

I hope they do one with multiplayer like xwing vs. tie fighter. that was the best of the bunch for some of us. getting 4-5 friends sitting around the lan playing this game was a blast!!! Both cooperative and head to head...

How much can someone possibly milk a single franchise. Funny thing is, 95% of Star Wars games are shit. Yeah, KOTOR, and Dark Forces/Jedi Knights are great, but the rest blow.

I would say some of the Starwars games suck but in general they have been good with a few really showing how good games can be when done right.

Funny you don't mention the X-Wing and TIE Fighter series. I always used them as the benchmark for how Star Wars games should be done. Even KOTOR got measured against TIE Fighter when I played it.

There's a handful of bad Star Wars games, but most of the ones I remember were excellent games that almost everyone who played them loved.

Would we be able to copy or pilot files and assign them to our wingmen like in the original floppy version. I still have a floppy of Top Ace level pilots I'm just itching to put to use.
