I wouldn't have said that the lack of leaning was a sign of consolitis, I mean has a Wolfenstein game or a Doom 3 engine powered game ever had leaning? I think it's more a case that the gameplay doesn't lend itself to leaning (as you said) rather than it being left out cuz of consoles

Yeah, especially since leaning HAS been featured in some console games.

Great review, hit the nail on the head. 70% is a perfect score.

Personally I'm having a blast with this game in SP. Looks and runs fantastically, insanely fun to power through with the Particle cannon and Kar98 (to pad the dismemberment count). Veil powers make the game a little easy, also easy to overpower your basic weapons with upgrades, but they're really fun to use so it's hard to stop. The story carries the game along nicely.

Multiplayer was a mixed bag until I fixed performance in the console. What I had to do was tune detail all the way down (on my rather beefy system.. *cry*.. SP is gorgeous), tweak the com_unlock commands and make sure vsync was off. This would be a hassle for most people. The multi isn't terrible at all, but mostly it reminded me how fun ET:QW was so I might go pick that back up too.

Still it's somewhat clear that this was designed with consoles in mind. I won't hold it against them too much. Fans are likely the only ones that will enjoy it enough to justify the asking price at launch- fun as hell for me but it's hard to make an unqualified recommendation.

How can you say MP isn't bad, it's god awefull. Dunno bout the comp but there are way to many hitches and jerky movement on the 360. The voice acting is awefull to taking away from a story that seems like it was just put there the last minute. Really this should have been a $10 game on steam or DLC. Goto wolfensteins website to see what the fans of the game say about it

I stupidly got this for the 360 thinking it would be like RTCW and got the shock of my life. I honestly didn't think activision and ID were capible of putting out such garbage. The graphics look 5 years old with tons animation lag. Sound is just horrendous to me, The MP is so bad the team that worked on it "endrant" was laid off. There is a god though I got mine for free at walmart because the cashier accidentaly voided it.

The semi-cure for consolitis is a patch like FEAR 2 and UT3 ended up getting. It's a shame this game came down with a case of the ho-hums though, I was really looking forward to playing it. Maybe I will give PREY a try since I haven't had a chance to play it yet.

I think you can find Prey for $10 or under nowadays (gogamer or Steam). At that price it's practically an impulse buy if you haven't played it already. Fun SP (with a disturbing twist at the end) and if you get a hard copy I'm going to go ahead and say copy it for your friends and LAN it for a few rounds. Then laugh as they all throw up from the motion sickness.

Prey is OK. Nothing special though.

"Some symptoms of consolitis are present."

I think every single one of your cons were indicative of this very serious, extremely debilitating disease.

i suppose you could look at it that way, lol. i'll stick to things that seem to be directly tied to concurrent development or porting, rather than blaming consoles for the declining quality of games as a whole. ;)
