 Tiger Woods Out...Until August!

| | (Post a comment) » The RV870 rumor fest continuesFudo has posted no fewer than four different RV870 stories on Fudzilla this morning. According to his sources, RV870 cards will be broken up into multiple price segments, with high-end Radeon HD 5870 2GB cards selling for $449, while a 1GB SKU will carry an MSRP of $399. Fudo believes the card will come with 1600 shaders clocked at 825MHz, which will run alongside 1300MHz GDDR5 memory. Expreview has snagged shots of the card (courtesy of Tweakers) from multiple angles. It's basically the same card Chiphell posted photos of last month, minus the annoying watermark of course.
Fudzilla's also posted more info on the 5850. The site claims the card will ship with 1440 shaders (2 SIMD units disabled) clocked at 725MHz, and 1GHz GDDR5 memory. They believe the card will sell for $299.
Fudzilla says the cards will launch on Sept 22nd in the US, and the 23rd for gamers in Europe. A 5870 X2 card should arrive a month later. | Previous news article | Back to main news | Next news article |

| Rumours persist that this card is going to have a high initial price so I really have to stop giving a damn.
1) Who do they think they are? Nvidia? How many fo you have bought an ATI card only to have it drop 50% in price 3 months later? This is why people hate ATI and Nvidia has more awesome fanboys.
2) How long will a PS3 last you? How long will the same amount of money spent on a 5850 last you? Probably not 1/2 as long.
Paying $300+ for a video card is dumb.» Login to reply to this p4l1ndr0m3 (418) Sep 10, 2009 - 12:33 pm
| I don't know what you've been smoking, but most of my geeky friends have made the switch to ATI/AMD. Excessive driver issues for nVidia and the OCing power of the ATIs have won many hearts and minds.
I do agree, however, that paying $300 for a graphics card is stupid. The next generation of graphics cards is going to bring forth some CPU bottlenecking.» Login to reply to this LORD ORION (1368) Sep 10, 2009 - 04:08 pm
| | Easy, I haven't been excited about a video card inawhile... but $299 for a mainstream nextgen card is F'ing retarded, so I am trying to get un-excited. :) » Login to reply to this |

| | While the ATI line of video cards have done very well (I personally use a Palit 4870 1GB), their CPU sales would suggest that most people recognise the superior Intel price/performance ratios. » Login to reply to this |
