I find it amusing how people assume that nVidia are minds behind the
bundling idea. Give credit where credit is due. This is MSI's
marketing strategy to sell a card that uses the nVidia chip.

The bundling of these games makes this an attractive package. If
you're looking to buy a card with a nVidia chipset then this is what
you'll buy because it has the most to offer.

Makes me wonder if a card manufacture will strike a deal to bundle
Doom 3 with thier card. Some thing tells me it won't be with an ATi
card.

OMG! You are such a fan boy. I'm not trying to attack anything or
anybody. Like I said, I don't give a #$##. All I did was list what
I think are some common concerns about NVidia currently. Could be
nothing more than mud slinging and there might be some truth to each
of them. I will probably never know and I very much doubt you know
any better. Nevertheless, I think alot of people are unsure about
NVidia for those very reasons and NVidia needs to do more than put
out press releases and whine about how they're getting a raw deal.
If I was to buy the latest and greatest video card today, I would
buy a 9800 Pro because from what I've seen and read THEY are the
better value. NVidia has done NOTHING to convince me otherwise.
Sorry to %&@# in your Cheerios.

I think that it's very wrong to coplain about NVIDIA the way you
are.

1: Futuremark tried to get companies to pay to become partners with
them in the making of 3dmark 2003. NVIDIA decided not to pay and so
they decided not to support the benchmark. You have to remember that
3dmark 2003 was made with ATI helping out. That alone basicly makes
it a worthless benchmark for compairing diffrent companies product
as I am sure that ATI made sure it was optimized for there cards.

2: Cheating has happend long before the Futuremark cheats that
NVIDIA did. I remember AMD having cheats before for games back in
the K6-2 era. Also it has been comon to find drivers that will flush
the memory in 3d mark when it gets to a loading benchmark screen as
it knows that a graphic intensive 3d sceen is going to be rendered.

3: With the Omega drivers I can understand NVIDIA not wanting to
except them. They are 3rd party and could lead to problems with the
cards. One problem with a popular games with the Omega drivers and
NVIDIA could get hundreds of tech support e-mails. Why they don't
have to support these unoffical drivers dealing with the requests
takes time.

I have no doubt the people at NVidia are very nice. I wouldn't
expect otherwise. Thus, since I know no one there personally, my
comments are only directed at the outward company.

That said, now that I've thought about it, I can think of several
specific reasons why NVidia strikes me as a prom queen !!###. First
is the tussle with Fururemark, Second are the endlessly nagging
questions of cheating and integry, third is the bullying of the
creator and hosts of the Omega drivers. It's no wonder so many
video card enthusiasts feel like they've been slapped in the face.
Now how true these things are or not, I don't really care, but
NVidia currently has itself a very large image problem which can't
easily be dismissed. I think you're right on the money that
NVidia's got some work to do to generate some favor with it's
enthusiast customers. Next time you see them, be sure to mention
that.

So far everyone I have talked to at NVIDIA has been pretty nice.
Also they seem to like watching how the graphics in games change. I
would rate them pretty highly on that. The only way I could see it
getting better for them would be doing more of gamer site than they
have right now. It NVIDIA site seems kind of dry and bland. A new
look and some game previews/interviews and a forum could fix that.
To keep the forum from getting to be a NVIDIA vs. ATI war they
should have it where a system check is run when you register to make
sure you have a NVIDIA card in your system. Just a few changes to
the website or a gamer corner of the website would make a world of
diffrence to show how dedicated they are as a company.

While the game bundle will thrill some, there isn't a single one in
the bunch that I would play for free, much less pay for them.

And the "blue LED optical mouse" isn't anything that will
excite me either. I already own an MX500 and an MX700.

The cooling system is the most compelling reason to buy this card,
but I'd still opt for a Sapphire Atlantis 9800 Pro Ultimate (I
already own a Sapphire 9800 Pro and a 9600 Pro) over the MSI N5900.
Before you dis me as an ATI fanboy, please know that I've owned, up
to a ti4600, every high-end nVidia card since the Riva 128. Only
recently have I gone over to ATI.

They're hungrier than nVidia is right now and, in my opinion, making
better products.

The MSI package? It's a little too specialized to appeal to anyone
but a very small minority of gamers. As a flagship marketing
statement it might make a little sense, but ultimately...no. not
really.

I'd have logged in, but I'm still waiting for my password. You can
call me "TQ"...

Right now, my favorite is a 9800 pro for around 300 bucks.
Pricewatch has it listed a bit above that, but if you judicious in
your web searching, there are some sold under 300 bucks. Now that
is a good deal. My question to anyone who knows is, does anyone
have an idea as to when the next iteration of cards will be
released. Radeon 10000 and whatever the new GF would be. It has
been quite some time since the release of the 9800 pro and we all
know that graphics cards drop in price in jumps, when new cards are
released. Any information regarding future release schedules would
be appreciated.
