| | (Post a comment) » Leadtek WinFast A350 Ultra TDH MyVIVO ReviewLeadtek's WinFast A350 Ultra TDH is designed to appeal to the guy (or gal) who just isn't satisfied with stock hardware. For starters let's talk about cooling. Leadtek has implemented a unique system that sports a copper heatsink with dual fans -- one for intake, and one for exhaust! But it doesn't stop there, Leadtek has also made some other improvements. We've gathered up eight graphics cards and NVIDIA's Detonator 45.23s that are being released tomorrow. You'll have to read the review for the full scoop! | Previous news article | Back to main news | Next news article |

#1 I'm wondering what replacing the stock fans with something a bit
more powerful might do for this card.
#2 You'd buy this card so you don't have the 1001 things that go
wrong with ATI cards go wrong. Honest I'm still hearing issues with
modern systems who have just purchased 9800 pros, and are having
lockups and other random idiocy. Sorry Nvidia is solid and runs
within a few fps higher or lower in most cases. Visual quality of
ATI is something I don't give a whit about if my system does
something silly while using it. And do you think if something goes
wrong with the card a year from now you are going to get the time of
day from ATI? Nope! Nvidia is speed, great visual quality (I
prefer the sharper image it produces) and rock solid reliability.
And lastly I can get Vivo with this card and get DVI output for my
lcd monitor. You find out how many people are having issues with
old ATI cards and had to replace them from a couple years ago, and
then ask how many people don't want to replace their Geforce 2's
because they just keep chuggin away. People who refuse to learn
from history are bound to repeat it.
Oh well, spend yer money as you like.

I thought so. I have a Leadtek winfast TV XP2000 card with the
winfastPVR and let me tell you it is no where near as sophisticated
as ATI's TV sofware. You don't get an interactive TV-guide with it
so you can't program the PVR functionality just by using the name of
the program you want to record or by clicking on it because there
aren't any "TV-guide" just the local channels that you
have to name manually yourself. And you program it just like an old
VCR: start time/end time/channel.
Anyway, I also have the previous leadtek Champ Their Ti 4400 vivo
with the dual fans and the big-@$$ aluminum heatsink that was
covering both sides of the card and that card has been running for
over a year at above 4600 speed no problem.
So not all things are bad with leadtek.
But don't get fooled the card they reviewed here is no AiW, it has
no TV-tuner for sure, no remote or anything like that just VI-VO
analog I/O

Keep in mind that you can't use this card for TV tuning, not sure if
some of you are confused by that or not. Leadtek mentions
timeshifting and PIP, but as you saw in the review, the terms are
not the same as a conventional TV tuner (which is why I mentioned
that software specifically).
Also, one of the quick facts mentions that there's also a variant of
this card with the reference design. I believe these were some of
the earlier boards that slipped out, so be on the lookout for
"Twin Turbo-II" if you plan on purchasing this card
online. Since both cards are clocked at the same speeds, performance
should be largely the same, and yes, RUF referred to the Porsche
tuners.
As far as #14s comment, if you look at our MSI NBox review, you'll
see that RADEON outperforms GeForce FX 5900 Ultra! The current
CATALYST driver doesn't run as well on P4 platforms with NASCAR,
also, the CATALYST driver has issues in OpenGL mode with NASCAR, so
we run the ATI cards in D3D mode. I think our selection of games is
one of the best actually, we've got shooters in there, flight sim,
and racing. The only thing we're really missing is a good sports
sim. Also, we're using custom demos in all our reviews now.

Out of all 5900 Ultra cards out there this is the one 5900 Ultra
card I would buy. That is if I don't look at say a AIW Radeon 9700
or 9800 card.
If you look at pricewatch this card is only $369. Not bad for a
video card with 256 megs, TIVO capabilities, and a very fast
graphics chip. So long as Nvidia keeps on cheating on their drivers
of course. ;)
Hell even the Radeon 9800 Pro 256 is over $400 bucks and it doesn't
even have TIVO functions. Then again who needs 256 megs of memory?
Even the heat sink looks kick !@! on the leadtek.

AIW9800 is much better.
And, why do this fartsquad guys keep using Nascar 2003? Everyone
knows that game favors the nVidia chips. $&%& poor selection for
game scores.
