(Post a comment) » Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge ReviewThe year is 1937. The United States has shattered under the weight of the Great Depression, regional Prohibition, and mounting isolationism. The transcontinental railroad and the budding highway system have become useless as they now cross hostile borders. Commerce and trade leave the ground as air travel—once a national obsession—now becomes a vital lifeline connecting allied countries. Giant zeppelins crisscross the skies, carrying both passengers and cargo. It is a time of gunship diplomacy and airship piracy. It is the age of the fighter pilot and a time of daredevil adventure and sinister intrigue. It is the world of Crimson Skies! | Previous news article | Back to main news | Next news article |

Oh please..
The Xbox has given _at least_ as much back to the PC gaming
community as it has taken from it. You've got traditionally
console-exclusive companies such as Namco and Konami converting
their titles over to the PC. You've got system-selling hits such as
Pro Evolution Soccer3 and Sillent Hill3, or console-orientated games
such as TMNT3D and Simpson's Road Rage coming to the PC.. Do you
think those would have been ported if Japanese developers didn't
have the Xbox with which to cut their teeth on PC/DirectX
development? Even Microsoft has ported flagship Xbox titles such as
Halo and Rallisport Challenge to the PC!
And, on the other side, you've got a couple of PC serieses that
became Xbox exclusives. A couple. You can't be serious if you're
going to suggest that Xbox threatens PC gaming, just because it has
taken Midtown Madness and Crimson Skies away from the platform,
because Crimson Skies and Midtown Madness were never that important
in the PC camp to begin with.. But then again, not much would
surprise me from the console-cheerleading shill that Firingsquad has
become of late.

They should make a Max Payne type game that in addition to scripted
movie like sequences, have different chroeographed moves at specific
situations within the game. For ex...in esculators, you can slide
down the rails in slow mo.
Another one is if you are holding a sawed off shot gun and you are
very close to the enemy, you can do this "Desperado" move
where he thrusts his shotgun in to his stomach like he's punching
him and fires it off and sends the mofo flying, extra high and far.
@&$@& amazing..
Another one is if you are holding a pistol and close to the enemy,
you can hold to his back while you're pumping slugs thru his chest
and using him as a shield at the same time and killing bad guys
while the bullets are being show thru the poor soul.
Another one, now this is something new, should be included in the R
rated version, if you sneak right up behind a guy with a pump shot
gun, you can have the option to stick it up his butt and blast it,
that would be a sight to behold.
Lastly...(But I could go on and on)...is to have something like how
a guy lunges forward/backwards and lands on a board that has wheels
underneth and you just keep sliding further...um yeah, just like
chow yun fat's movies.

Woops sorry, I only meant "gamepad" in a generic way.
Actually it was a Sidewinder, specifically the black gameport
version, not the piece of crap silver USB version, whatever that was
called.
I only got Max Payne on Friday and have only devoted a couple of
hours to it. I'll be &$@@!!, though, if I'm done and bored with it
by this Friday. Oh well, such is life with these single player
oriented games. At least it's pretty fun thus far even if the funky
Noir stuff is as bad and cheesy as the first one.
You're absolutely right, though, Microsoft should release this new
Crimson Skies on the PC as well. There is no good reason not to,
and the fact that they so readily thumb their noses at the PC now I
find pretty insulting.

You should be playing Crimson Skies pretty soon then, Max Payne 2 is
a pretty short game... I played it and sold it like I do all my
single player games...
I played the original Crimson Skies with a Microsoft Sidewinder
Precision 2... and it was quite an experience.. I can't imagine
playing it with an X-box gamepad... and you played it with a 6
button gamepad? My goodness, did you even have fun at all?
I would have really loved to play this sequel, but alas, I dont have
an xbox and dont ever plan to buy one, and dont really care to...
but, if I were to get an xbox for free, this would definitely be the
game I'd buy first.
Hopefully people dont forget that us intellectual PC gamers do enjoy
a plug and play game once in a while... PLEASE DONT DENY US.

Good review. The biggest beef I have with console theft are the
games that they force you to play on the XBox that have no business
being there such as Halo. Crimson Skies, on the other hand,
deserves to be played on the XBox. With the original Crimson Skies
on the PC, I just used a Microsoft gamepad to play it. There was
really no reason or justification for playing it on the PC other
than the fact that the XBox didn't exist yet. So it may actually be
time to dust off the XBox I haven't used in literally months and
play Crimson Skies. However, it's going to have to wait until I
finish Max Payne 2.

FS..
The games that you mentioned, MechAssault, Midtown Madness and
Crimson Sky's are better played on a console. All 3 games are very
arcadey action which suits the Xbox much better then the PC.
And no I don't view the Xbox as a threat. I like console gamin but
at this time I'd never get an Xbox. The Xbox only games have ZERO
appeal to me. Hell even Fable which is looking good is suspossed to
be on PC.
It seems like you guys have fallen big time FS. Where are the
reviews? They aren't here, and if they are they come out much to
late. And the hardware reviews stink any more.
