 Tiger Woods Out...Until August!

| | (Post a comment) » Far Cry demo releasedBlue has the scoop. 3DGamers, Avault, and Doupe.cz have the 465MB version with the DirectX installed removed. A 496MB version with the installer is at 3D Downloads, Action Trip, Ausgamers, Boomtown, Computer Games.ro, File Front, FilePlanet, File Rush (with a torrent), FileShack (holy crap those are some long waits!), Gamer's Hell, DLX, Gamer Tab, Happy Puppy, Iggin, Loaded Inc, and finally Worthplaying. This being a HUGE download and all, I'm going to get it, play it, and let you know if it's worth the hassle/wait/registration. I know, you love me. :] Tech Warning:Those of you with NVIDIA cards *must* enable Fog Table Emulation in order to play the game, otherwise you're going to see a lot of blue. | Previous news article | Back to main news | Next news article |

You might want to up the ram by about 4x what you have. However, I
am able to run the game very smoothly with all the graphics as high
as they go, AA and AT as high as they go, and I'm quite pleased.
Lags a bit when going from section to section in the levels, but
recovers almost instantly.
Pentium IV 2.8GHz
Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB (using newest Omega drivers)
512MB PC2700 RAM (hopefully soon to be 1 gig of PC3200)

I'd wait if I were you. I have it and it's about the most bug
riddled thing I have ever played since Devastation. Sound issues
video issues you name it this game's got it. Herpes, The Clap,
you're gonna need an inoculation just to play it. It is very cool to
look at, and the water will be the standard against which all video
game water will be judged in the future, but alas the bugs are
painfully overshadowing. I just did a nice fresh load for it live on
too. Running an A7N8X Deluxe /2700+/9800 pro- it seems to like to
set my settings at Medium but it runs no slower on high settings
really, but oh the BUGS!!! Please someone fix the Nforce2 problems
I'm sure this is the issue for me, It hates my Nvidia chipset nearly
as much as I do. I feel like such a traitor running this board. New
chip and board soon, we'll see how she likes that. Anyway Back to
COD, now that's a game you can cuddle with! My review ===>
"FarCry... from a finished product".

Ive got an nForce2 with a gig of ddr 2100. WinXP pro, athlon 1700+
tbred ocd to 1900... im using the ati 4.1 cats and have been
crashing after a few minutes of play each time i load up Far Cry in
singleplayer or multiplayer. VPU recover kicks in after about 20
sec and Im then able to ctrl/alt/del END TASK about 20 times so i
can shut down Far Cry.. In any case, its getting annoying.
Thinking it may be getting too hot in my PC, so im going to open up
the panel on the right side of the case.. that combined with the fan
on the left panel should keep it cool enough i think. I'll let ya
know if that doesnt fix it.

what a dork you are, if you are only playing pc games, then you
really are missing out. most of the good games only come out on
consoles these days, while pc get the the same old fps and rts. you
dont have a clue what you are talking about if you think you are a
serious gamer, because you only play on pc. have you even played the
hundreds of classic games on saturn, dreamcast, even xbox? is there
any gt racing game that comes close to pgr2 on xbox or even gt3 on
ps2? no. is there any shooters as good as panzer dragoon orta on pc?
is there any descent 3d fighters on pc like dead or alive 3? no. and
then there are rpgs, where pc always loses out to consoles. i could
go as far as asking you is there any pc game that looks as good as
dead or alive 3? and many people would respond no. see, you dont
know crap, you are only thinking about framerates and mhz. and a lot
of the new xbox games make better use of advanced graphics effects
and techniques (ableit at low res) then the new pc games. and
sitting back a couple meters from a high definition (even no hdtv)
you couldnt care less if it is only running at 800x600, or 640x480
as it still looks awesome. i prefer playing my xbox over my pc
anyday, excecpt when im playing gp4, as there are no good f1 games
on consoles. and im sure im a more serious gamer than you, as you
only have framerates and megahertz on your mind.

Try Cat 3.9s'- I have the same prob as you do except further
compounded by a worse problem where the game will sometimes restart
my system. Cat 3.9s' seem to be the closest thing to a solution for
me. I still get Critical Exception errors and am brought back to
windows (i think because of the VPU recover) but at least my system
isn't shutting down on it's own.

There was a comment made in one of the demo reviews about the MP5sd
being "too quiet." A valid concern no doubt, but it may
interest you to know that the MP5sd is, in fact, notorious for its
extremely efficient integral supressor. The sound it does make in
reality has been described as the sound of merely the bolt
cycling... or a muffled metallic clacking...
The in-game sound is more likely too loud! Heckler and Kotch is
to be commended that the gaming industry must under-represent their
work in order for the public to find it at all convincing! Way to
go HK. And way to go Ubisoft for keeping it real in Far Cry!
P.S. The demo was more than enough to convince me. I'm a first day
buyer if I can help it! Can't wait. I will look forward even more
to FC2... =]

512 will not even come close to cutting man. Next time you run an
intense game ALT-CRTL-DEL and check how much ram is available.
Starwars galaxies for exp. 1gig is still lacking in memory

Most people seem to have 1 or 2 issues. A demo will have. I get
issue where it freezes on load screen and reboots machine. Sometimes
it works. I f you press ` key to bring down console when initial
menu loads I get erros about .tga file etc. When the game runs slow
on a system with a 9800 Pro you it is probably your drivers.
Something tells me ATI drivers still are'nt quite bullet proof as
Nvidia. All my mates with Nvidia cards are running this fine...on
different driver sets...Its a s if something in the demo dies as if
I re-install it it works fine for a few days then starts to stop
then nothing at all. Thats on a completley fresh install of XP
aswell... Love the game though.
To the guy who had slow down issues. re-install your drivers fully.
Delete registry entries etc and try again with fresh install of
demo.
