Silver made no sense? This shows how much you don't know about
console systems. Sega Genesis, Super Nintendo. All those systems
sold with just "ONE!" controller... Unless you bought the
uber packages. SNK just did what Sega and Nintendo did with their
systems.
I think you guys should do more research in the history of the
consoles in the early 90's and understand the Arcade market before
spewing words that show your lack of knowledge.

You took the words right out of my mouth. If these pimple popping
geeks would have grown up with consoles to begin with. The Neo-Geo
was the God of all home consoles. To tell someone it was a poor
value shows that you were never involved in consoles to begin with.
This is why I hate PC Hardware sites reviewing console systems. You
people should stick to PC's and not touch on Consoles which you have
no CLUE ABOUT!!!
bigmike is 100% correct in his words about the Neo Geo. To own an
Arcade game back in the day when Arcade games were the source for
graphics is the ultimate high. I owned 3 Neo-Geo's through out the
early 90's. I just never understand why people bash the Neo Geo
because it was expensive. Do people bash Porsche? BMW? Nope... You
get what you pay for. You firingsquad people should look that up.

I think everyone's missing the point - This was intended to be a
system for a hardcore modder/pirate, even if they sidestep the issue
with those user agreements. 120 gig hard drive + 1.4 ghz CPU =
dozens of games/movies ripped for 'backup use' in half the time.
With proper software you could make it into a DIVX box for price
comparable to other set top systems (but without progressive scan
thats arguable). I think its a great product, but needs some more
tweaking. I'm waiting for them to either drop the price or at least
till the next model comes out.

Pfft, what a knob.
"There was no question that the Neo Geo was a poor
value."
Wait a sec, at its introduction and for many years after that, the
Neo-Geo was an incredible value. Not everyone could afford one, but
around $200 (sometimes close to $300) was a steal considering you
were playing an exact version of its arcade counterparts which could
run $2000-6000...
"Just as FiringSquad wouldn't recommend the Neo Geo over the
Super Nintendo and Genesis of the era..."
Why wouldnt you? Ill tell you what, when I was 10 reading GamePro
Magazine, I wanted nothing more than to have a Neo-Geo system. If
someone wanted to play the exact version of hit games such as Art of
Fighting, Fatal Fury, King of Fighters, Samurai Showdown, and lest
we not forget KING OF THE MONSTERS, what better friggin system than
the NEO-GEO?
Does anyone else remember reading the specs on new cart games and
seeing an SNES or Genesis title using an 8 megabit cart, then
looking at a NEO-GEO game using a whopping 100+ megabit? God those
were the days.
Why would this author compare the DreamX which is a buggy, almost
pointless hack of the XBOX to a classic, sexy, boyhood wet-dream
powerhouse machine such as the Neo-Geo?
And does the author also know that SNK still continues to release
titles for the Neo-Geo? I would have recommended the Neo-Geo over
the SNES, Genesis, or GameBoy to anyone looking for longevity in
their systems.

The system's high performance counter returns a floating point value
for the number of seconds since a certain time (sometime in the 20th
century). The CPU's clock frequency has no effect on this counter.
Also moving objects by a certain distance each frame DOES NOT WORK
even when it is designed for a single specific platform. The frame
rate changes all the time during a game, the velocity would be
constantly varying.

Right on! I would take a computer over any console any day!
Hell, I sold my last XBOX, and the only reason I have one right now
is b/c my wife one it in a drawing.

Don't know where to find that particular design, but it's just a
stock case with a "skin" on it. I've got one for mine that
looks like brushed metal. You can get them at sites all over the net
or on ebay.
