 Tiger Woods Out...Until August!
 |

| | (Post a comment) » E3 2004 Part 3Today our E3 2004 coverage continues with our third installment. Jakub adds some rather more cynical comments about Half-Life 2, and previews "The Movies" from Lionhead/Activision. However, top honors today most definitely went into the dark horse candidate for best in show, Call of Cthulhu. | Previous news article | Back to main news | Next news article |

1. Gamers are by far the most abused market
demographic, and they know how to deal with
disapointment.
2. Valve doesn't need defending
because they will sell 2 million copies of this
game easily.
Verily JimZero, (2) is precisely the situation. Becsuse of (1), I
think I will wait for the reviews to come in from the 2 million
brave and trusting initial release date purchasers.
If there is a release date ... if there turn out to never be a
release date, Firingsquad should give them a "Royal
Nonesuch" award.

wow
Jakub perfectly hammers the nail on the head on this one. Valve fa
ggot fanboys unite with the lameness and blind ignorance, you'll
need all you got to distract away from the obvious and perfect
logical reasoning.
half life2 will be more overhyped drivel when its released, if ever.
doom 3 should at least be an absolutely awesome single-player game
come summer.

Precisely because what we HAVE seen looks so amazing. Of course
that doesnt mean beyond certainty the game will be the greatest
thing since sliced bread, but based on what we've seen and based on
Valves work with the original half-life, and based on the fact that
the Half-life franchise is valve's crown jewel I'd say the odds are
definitely better than average wouldnt you? Its your right of
course to be cynical and pessimistic but I find excitement and
optimism much more fulfilling.

I said it would be excellent, not the last game you will ever buy.
As for why I am posting... someone was going to point out your hissy
fit in place of real writing, I just happened to be here at the
right time.
Althougth truthfully Valve doesn't need defending because they will
sell 2 million copies of this game easily. Main reason is to show a
balanced perspective so I don't have to listen to braindead posters
who just repeat what they read preach on and on about how they
should have had a playable demo from now until release.

Because they're freaking fanboys willing to believe every $##&$@
the marketing department feeds down their throats. Right now there's
no possible way to know if Half-Life 2 or Doom 3 are any good.
Graphics make the gameplay better, but there's no substitution for
good gameplay. Nobody knows how good either one of these game are
going to be. So any opinion based on hearsay and screenshots are
just pure $##&$@ fantasy dreamt up by gamers who are starving for
the next great thing and are willing to live in a lie until their
little deluded world collapses on them when the game comes out and
doesn't live up to their impossible expectations.

I provide opinions, as they do. This time, I choose to point out
that their opinions come almost exclusively from canned demos, or
from a short selection of rail-like playable demos.
Why are you so determined to believe that HL2 will be the be-all,
end-all of gaming?

What about the other sites that got to play it? Their articles are
no good? Only you can reliably provide HL2 info? Please.

I'm not jumping off or on any bandwagon.
I simply want people to realize these are canned demos that really
don't say much about the actual gameplay except idealized
circumstances.
There's a WHOLE world of difference between that and "HL2
sux" which you seem to be accusing me of saying.
