Are you kidding me?? So ATI wont produce a single unit of their new
X??? card series for AGP??!
How can they do that! I just got a new mobo with AGP 8x, I did'nt
think it would be out-to date in the next mounth or so!
This is SICK!
Now I think I´d rather stick with ever-so powerhungry (but
allways backward compatible) nVidia!!
I was "THAT" close to actually getting what I thought
would be a decent product from ATI!
Now that will never be!
Shame ATI, shame!

Looks like ATI is sucking hardcore with the mainstream, lets hope
that nVidia does better with their mid-range cards (I assume they
will be called the 6600 and 6200) I have a good feeling that nVidia
won't drop the ball like ATI did because the NV40 was built from the
ground up to be able to be trickled down into the mainstream wheras
the R420 seems to of only be designed for mid-high to ultra-high
end. If I had to recomend a budget/mainstream vidcard nVidia all the
way (well, thats if they dont F it up like ATI did, for the record I
think nVidia will make a good card)but on the high end im still
behind the X800 series.

AGP was not a real solution for connectivity. It is not even an real
connection for perifical. It is the result of an emergency demand
for higher bandwith for video card. AGP is a communcation port and
you can't have 2.
Other device such as Raid/SCSI controler would like to have fast
bandwith too, or even a second video card.
PCI Express is the result of a long search for scalable device
connectivity.
While the classic PCI Bus is based upon a parallel architecture, PCI
Express is serial based, drastically reducing pin count.
It is a point to point protocol much like AGP. Devices do not share
bandwidth.

I would also like to take this chance to say "I told you
so" with regards to ATI and Mobile PCI Express. Everyone was
declaring nVidia awesome when they talked about MXM, but I said ATI
had something equal or better already developed and they do.
Also, as I stated before we will most certainly see AXIOM on the
market before MXM because nVidia doesn't put products on shelves,
they just talk about them.

The basic plan is always to make a game for the lowest end card in
the last two years. Well really it is when you start to make a game
look at the low end market and start at that point seeing how
production will take most of the two years. While making something
higher end might be nice you find that a lot more people will be
able to keep up with an X300 than an X800.

Bah, I can't imagine how they will price these if they want to sell
both X300 and X600, and even then they will keep churning out the
9800pros. Not a bad thing, but sooner or later Nvidia will bring a
better deal to the table than a 9800pro.
The most interesting thing is that developers might see the X300
line as a graphics baseline for products in development. This would
allow them to concentrate on the fancy stuff and not bother with how
it plays at 15fps:).

A few years ago, the gaming industry released 8X AGP and promoted it
to be better than sliced bread; but to date, it still isn't fully
utilized.
Summer of 2004, they're releasing PCI Express, and promoting it as
if it's better than sliced bread.
What about all the people that shelled out the money for AGP 8X in
hopes for it to boost their gaming performance? Are they going to be
left in the dust now? That is extremely upsetting. I say PCI Express
can kiss my happy @$$. They say we should invest our money in to be
ready for future games. Ha! That probably won't happen until Duke
Nukem Forever is released (in other words, never).
Anyone agree with me, or am I just being crazy and should just shut
up and succumb to the wills of the tech industry titans?
