If this thing was capable of inputing cable/satelite HDTV signals,
then it would not only be worth it, but a steal at $200.
The problem is, with it's limitation of only local HDTV programing,
I just can't see it being worth it.
As far as the programing freezing for a few seconds, even minutes,
it's because of the weak signal of the antenna.
I say that because in my home, I purchased an HDTV with an built in
tuner and then I bought a $50 indoor HDTV antenna and was only able
to get two maybe 3 channels and they paused.
I was upset by this so I bought a $100 Terk attic antenna but
instead put it on top of my tv and it was only a little bit better
as far as reception.
Finally I got to upset, I went to Radio Shack and bought the biggest
outdoor antenna they made which was about 15', then I bought the
biggest pole they had which was an adjustable 30' max pole, I even
bought a mechanical rotator so that I can rotate the antenna from
inside my home.
Then I bought a Hughes HDTV receiver and subscribed to DirectTV and
their HDTV services.
When the installer came I asked him to install my regular antenna so
I could see the locals(he charged me seperately as a side job).
He thought I was CRAZY when he saw the antenna and everything else I
had bought.
He told me that it wouldn't work because that antenna was too
strong.
To make a short story long, he went to to Radio Shack for me and got
what I needed, brought it back and installed it.
When he was done, I had all the local channels in HD running
PERFECTLY, never a pause or stutter, and obviously all the HDTV
channels that are offered by DirecTV.
That means HB

after dissing this thing cause it seemed like 4 channels for $200 I
bought it.
well it's nice but it's a pain in the @@# product.
for one thing I can't get abc here unless I get some large roof
mounted antenna. Well there goes Monday Night Football and one of
the 4 or 5 stations that broadcast ota hdtv.
Second the anttenna that comes with the product is flakey. There
are a few exact spots where it has to be.
Third in the room where I have my computer I can't get the other 4
stations from the same antenna position. It looks like I'd have to
move the antenna to get Fox. But NBC, CBS, PBS and the WB come in
fine.
Now for content. Well the picture looks nice when its working. For
instance I watched the olympics. But despite my signal strength
being 67% or so the picture kept freezing every few seconds. This
would come and go. It kinda ruins the whole enjoyment. This
freezing is present at random times on all stations.
It possibly could have been my computer. Cause as far as I know
there is no way to turn off the PVR feature in DTV software. It's
always recording to your hard drive. If there's a way to do it it's
buried in the software. I wanted to turn it off to see if this was
the case. But no go. In the regular analog tv player with this
card you can turn it off and it isn't automatically on.
Anyway recording in HDTV was awesome. The recording is crystal
clear perfect when the picture is coming in without freezing. also
compared to my $45 leadtek tv card this card records analog tv
better. and the software is nicer.
Anyway the thing is it's a pain the @@# in the end cause you got a
picture that

Just installed the ATI HDTV WONDER in my 1.7 GHZ P4.
Like many reported in other forums, the CPU utilization is close to
100% and video/audio is choppy. I have not been able to turn off TV
ON DEMAND - this causes constant disk activity!!! I suspect this is
also why so much CPU is being used: for simultaneously compressing
and storing video/audio as you watch live television. But why??? I
don't care about TV ON DEMAND if this stuff messes up the
picture!!!!
Bottom line: product is faulty. Do not buy.

Has anyone actually bought the card? As of July 9th, this product is
still vapor – nowhere to be found.
Another DOOM 3 phenomenon?
