| | (Post a comment) » MSI MEGA 180 ReviewAfter a lackluster start with their first SFF system, MSI is back with their second-generation generation SFF, the MEGA 180. Based on the nForce2 chipset, the MEGA 180 offers built-in 802.11b Wi-Fi, an AM/FM radio tuner, Dolby Digital 5.1 SRS audio, a slick new remote control unit and color LED display, and all the performance you'd expect from a desktop system. But how does it stack up to the competition? Find out in today's review! | Previous news article | Back to main news | Next news article |

Hi, i cannot seem to get my MSI to work. The problem is in the HIFI
section. The CD/DVD drive is not opening when i push the eject
button, but in the PC state, it works without problem.
Is there some settings i should check or something?
Anyone?

Hey Brandon - in the Cons section you state: "What really hurts
matters though is the arrival of Athlon 64 – Athlon XP is a dead
platform with no upgrade path from here." While it's true that
the Athlon 64 is a much better performance platform, Socket A
(Athlon XP) is not dead yet. The newly announced Sempron processors
will likely continue to run on the platform, perhaps even up to - or
beyond? - 3.0 GHz.
Sure, Sempron on socket 754 is going to be a lot faster with the
integrated memory controller, but for a business, the Nforce2 IGP
and a decent CPU should be plenty for quite a while. Of course, I
would never buy one of these systems, but I'm just pointing out that
there is still something of a future - albeit a rather murky one -
for Athlon XP/Sempron. :)

actually, there are some people who still likes the IR remotes
because there are some that can be programmed to use on their other
entertainment center devices.

802.11b. You have to get the Deluxe model though (although I think
all of the US models are Deluxe).

IR remotes are poor though, RF is the way to go.

on the first page and on the verdict page you list this as having
built-in 802.11b support, then on the ballistics page you list it as
having 802.11g support...so which is it?
802.11g
or
802.11b
???
