 Tiger Woods Out...Until August!

| | (Post a comment) » World War II Online ReloadedOur friendly PR staff at Playnet were kind enough to hold a gun to our heads and make us play World War II Online. After about ten minutes, however, it quickly became apparent that the gun was not necessary. Well, it was at one point, when somebody tried to stop Jakub from playing and he had to fire off a few caps in order to emphasize his "no, I'm not going to shower even though I've been playing this 48 hours straight" reply. Go on, read why. You know you want to. | Previous news article | Back to main news | Next news article |

Very well thought out article, but one small fault...
The tanks are actually not unrealistically fragile. Compared to
BF1942 they are, but the armor system (minus bugs) is probably the
most complex and realistic you can find in any WW2 game. Its right
up there with Combat Mission, only CM doesnt have airplanes and
ships you can control and/or pilot.
Glad some reviewers are giving this good game a chance

the game is well worth the money paid to play it.
it takes a little while to learn the game but it really helps to get
into a squad, they generally handle training new players in the
aspects of the game.
the only main critique i would have is that the review seems
somewhat axis-biased but hey, if he wants to convince people to play
allied i won't argue with him ;)

Sweet a WW2 game. It's about time they made a game or 60 based on
that subject

Nice review, but missing one critical technical problem: 64 player
limit. As soon as there are more than 64 players in an area, stuff
starts blinking out, disappearing, reappearing. It's very annoying
during large scale operations.

decent review, tho somewhat inaccurate in parts.
anyone who has played both sides equally will realise the axis start
in just as stong or weak position as the BEF and in a better
position then the french, the axis, generally outnumber the allies,
particularly the french.
also having stong armour on the allied side is negated by the far
superior bombing capability of the stuka.
multicrewing is not exactly the way you describe, only 2 people can
multi-crew a vehicle at this time, i've heard being able to have
more then 2 is coming some where down the track.
generally light armoured but fast with a gun able to punch through
the enemy on the flanks is a better choice, panhard,232 and daimler
are some of the best "armoured" units.
though i dont disagree that your review is probably an acurate
description of the way axis players see the game, im sure if it were
reviewed by a mostly allied player the view would be different.
also the time of day you play has a very large effect on how you se
the game.
play in american prime time and you'll see the map not moving a lot,
mostly dead locked, play eruo and you'll see the axis moving in
leaps and bounds and play in Australian/asian prime time and you'll
see allies taking ground.
(also note to anyone whos going to flame me or something, i have
equally high rank in all 3 nationalities and have played since
before release)

Nice review.
It is certainly worth a try. Don't be discouraged.
Be polite and ask for help, and you will usually get it.
Don't expect "Hollywood" results. Real weapons and armor
values are used to create the in game models. Early war Panzers
(Pzs) were less armored than the French tanks. AT guns are very
effective at close range, but can bounce off at long range. Armor
penetration values of the guns are calcuated using real physics. The
energy of the round, angle of impact, angle of the armor are all
calculated to determine if any damage is done. After penetration,
there is explosive shrapnel, spalling.
With this type of damage system, some incredible things can happen,
and some things that you would expect to be a sure kill, are not.
The variety of cause/effect/outcomes make this game the most dynamic
and realistic simulation yet. It makes each small victory very
sweet.

That was the most accurate review of WWIIOL that I've read in 3+
years. It was obviously written by someone that had actually played
the game for more then an hour and began to understand the
complexities of it's unique gameplay. Thanks for taking the time to
do it right!

All Axis players must DIE!
Axis more organised? HA. Bunch of whining uberkiddies. Stukas, PzIII
H and Flak88's and you complain about the Matilda?
Hehe, just joking. Good review, I only recently rejoined the WWIIOL
community and I would have made the exact same comments. This is one
of those games that is extremely rewarding if you put in the effort.
