| | (Post a comment) » ATI RADEON X700 XT Performance PreviewNVIDIA isn't the only one with a brand new mainstream card, as today ATI is unveiling their X700 lineup. Like GeForce 6600, X700 sports 8 pixel pipelines, GDDR3 memory, and high clock speeds. ATI one ups NVIDIA in one area however: vertex processing. See how the X700 XT performs in comparison to the 6600 GT and GeForce 6800, RADEON 9600 PRO, 9700 PRO, and 9800 PRO, and two X600s inside. As an added bonus, we even threw in overclocking results! | Previous news article | Back to main news | Next news article |

I have a ati 256mb agp card and 1.8ghz amd processor,512 ram,
chaintech ct-sk8t800 mainboard.
I have found a hack to run ruby good after 3 runs but I have yet
found a way to get crowd to work.
I would think I have enough machine to make this work.
I really like to watch this demo,I like ati cards.

Why on the 2nd page do they say the X700 does 5 Gvert/s and later
state it only does 3.8 Gvert/s? For geometry processing should one
consider the vert/s the same as triangles/s? Normally one would
expect the X700 in the 300 to 400 Mvert/s. Especially since the
R9800XT is only 412Mvert/s and the X800xt is 500Mvert... no way the
X700 could be 5,000Mvert/s (5Gvert/s.)
I think the #s are incorrect and more likely they were fillrate #s,
G pixel or G texel, those #s are in the 3.8Gt/s range for the
X700xt.

Does anyone else have issues getting more than 60Hz refresh rate
with their ATI card?
I'm stuck at 60Hz even at the desktop in 2D. I've got a 9800 Pro,
and I've never had this problem in 2D with any other type of video
card. The display properties reports 85Hz at 1600x1200, but the
monitor itself says 60, and I can tell it is at 60.
I'm using the latest Catalyst drivers and I've tried several tweaks
like rage3d Tweak, Reforce, etc. Nothing seems to work.
I'm running WinXP Pro SP2 if it matters...

You don't understand the concept of Vaporware, do you? Vaporware is
a promised piece of software/hardware that continuouly is
delayed/misses deadlines. Nothing of substance is really shown, and
there's a general feel that it may never be released.
This is an announced part and hardware manufacturers are making the
cards as we speak. There's a world of difference.

It's not vaporware if it actually exist. Besides, just buy it off
the internet = more convenient.

Yay, more vaporware. I am so tired of card companies
"launching" cards that no on ecan buy in a store yet.
hell, i can't even find a x800 xt anywhere but the internet, not at
fry's, not at best buy, and certainly not at compusa.
Why do hardware sites get suckered into reviewing an unreleased card
and making recommendations based on thin air.
